Would prefer the Stag without the T bar, I would be interested in anyones opinions on ways to reinforce the chassis of the Stag if this was done?

gather its a monocoque and suffered from scuttle roll and sagging when t was removed, im sure where theres a will theres a way, maybe!

Having taken a Stag apart a couple of times I'd say it would be a disaster with it removed, even if you put additional reinforcing along the sills/ diagonal bracing.

It was clearly designed with it in place, just embrace that 70's feel smile

Agree with previous post.

And even if that were not the case, it would be very difficult to avoid the doors looking st withe the framed windows and the hood would be a problem too.

I do agree that as a "full" convertible it would look excellent though.

You'd definitely need frameless doors.

It doesn't look that much different just taking the T bar off smile

thanks for replies,

yes the door frames would defo need to be offed, should have said in initial post,

i went to see one to buy two years ago but it was rusty underneath & i didnt want a project, i also like Jensen Interceptor convertible but gather its expensive to maintain,

im not very familiar with the Stag bodywork, to see if it could be done, i would prefer the full convertible

good pics Gary! can you do one with side windows off as full convertible?

A quick effort without windows:

To be honest it looks better with the windows and the T bar! smile

It can be and has been done but the amount of rework and engineering is huge.

The one I saw done in the 80s had huge modifications to the floor and sill sections.

I am sure Charles and Diana were driven in a T barless Stag in the early years - maybe even their honeymoon. I seem to remember it was so the crowds got a better look at the couple.

Yep, carried them round Gibraltar apparently...

It was also used when Miss Gibraltar returned to her home protectorate as Miss World in 2009 so I guess it's still over there?

Didn't know any of this, I wonder if my GF will like mine a bit better once she hears it was good enough for Charles and Diana.
