Brake and clutch fluid question. Again sorry.

I seem to remember that we need to avoid certain grades??

What do i need for my chimaera?
Dot 5.1 for the brakes and dot 4 for the clutch?

Standard hydraulic system: 5.1 and 4 are fine and can be mixed. DOT 4 will do.
To be avoided 5.0 as standard seals cannot handle it, and it cannot be mixed with 5.1 or 4.

Boiling point on the fluid gives you a good indication on how good a quality the stuff is.
Eg 325C is about top of the tree..

I think the off the shelf 5.1 should be ok for me.
I am only trying to stop from maybe 130, not 202!

Ah, but if you ever decide to throw a couple of corners in, you might wish you had paid more than a fiver a bottle!

I do go round corners on occasion.

I run 'yellowstuff' pads on standard discs and there was no evidence of brake fade after 6 or 7 lap stints.

Suggestion was just for clutch. Brakes and trackdays always dot 5.1. Have dot 5.1 and 4-pot calipers at the front of my humble wedge and no fade on tracks.
But it seems that very good specification dot 4 (seems to be as good or better then dot 5.1) is out there as well, but can't help on that.
