Leather renovation kits

Hi,

Am looking at renovating/re dying my seats as they are looking a little tired although not that bad,not interested in colour change

I'm after peoples thoughts on the two companies most mentioned on here, one being Liquid Leather and the other being the furniture clinc.

Any thoughts and advise welcome.

I have seen what the Furniture Clinic Renovation Kit does and all i can say is wow.

Have a search on the Wedge forum and look for Toptons profile his leather looks cracking. I was speaking to him a few weeks ago and he told me the medium kit is more than enough to do his wedge.

I did a complete color change on my interior using the Furniture Clinic kit. I found it really easy to use and got great results. I did get better at it the more I did it, so I recommend taking your time to make sure you are happy with all the steps before you take the plunge. My top tip is don't try and add too much color at the sponge stage. This is really to get it ingrained in the leather and not to provide the finished color. On my early bits I was a bit too eager to get it all covered thinking that was better. When I actually did what they said it worked much better. They have some videos on the site showing the kits being used. These are worth a watch.

It looks like Its the furniture clinic, anyone used it on the vinyl and if so did it rub of? im not looking at changing the colour, but may go over the vinyl but do not want to risk it coming off.

I've used the Gliptone liquid leather a lot, including a colour restore and clean/feed on an old Beemer in black. That one was transformed and I've used LL on all our leather cars since, the good thing about LL is the smell, it imparts a nice leathery smell as well as feeding. Their leather cleaner is the best I've used as well, better than Autoglym

The end result is amazing. Paid extra to get a colour match, I sent a small cutting from under the dash. It has now taken the seats back to there original colour , not a faded 20 year old

I ordered enough to do the whole interior, medium size restoration kit. I had to get some extra air cans from halfrauds though



It takes a while to do, because of drying time, but a hairdryer helps to speed things up

for spraying seats or changing colour I think the furniture clinic is better/easier than scuff master (personally had great results with SM on my black bmw interior but not so good on a light coloured one)

BUT

for cleaning and conditioning you wont beat the liquid leather stuff, it is the absolute dogs danglies and as mentioned leaves a lovely smell of fresh leather! It out performs pretty much anything I have tried it against, even some stuff my mum was using on her sofa which was twice as much for a tiny little pot!

Just about to get carpets retrimmed and woundering a: how messy it is (best do it before carpets go in, although money tight at mo) and b: whats the longevity of the product, i.e will it need redoing annually etc.

Just the same, with the furniture clinic kit, except you miss out the "roughing up the leather" stage

Located just near peterborough too so you can go in and have a chat with them at the workshop for general advice. Did my Chimaera seats with one of their kits and they came out really well.

I can assure you mine is the same bit of the same seat. I coloured the seats AND the piping, I thought it would look better. Not so sure now, right enough, but that's what I did.

My interior is wedgewood blue/grey, I have bought a furniture clinic kit to change the colour of my 'wedge wood' blue seats to the grey, which is colour matched from a piece from below the dash, next weekend is ear marked for the work and I will put up some before and after pictures..................good or bad, though my confidence is buoyed by the feedback I've seen from others doing this.
