As a relatively new (six months) member of the TVR fraternity, may I say what a pleasure it is to encounter another tivver on the road. The flashing headlights, the friendly wave, we few, we happy few, we band of brothers...
Which leads me to my point about etiquette: are there any rules a new member should be aware of? Such as who initiates the flash / wave exchange? Does the driver of a shiny brandspanker expect to be flashed / or to flash the driver of a humbler model? Does speed matter? Is a toot on the horn considered a fair exchange for a flash? What is the correct response when a non-TVR flashes / waves? Ignore it as a lesser breed or respond as he may be a tivver in his other car? And how does a tivver warn another tivver about a speed trap down the road (close your ears, John!)? Is there a special signal?
Yours anxiously
GasBlaster
I agree Gasblaster, nice to to have a friendly exchange.
I personally would flash, it's more discreet and you can't hear the toot for that lovely sound behind. As for non-tivvers, I guess that a flash from one of these guys means he got a tiv in the garage (i've thought about a quick flick of the lights when in my wifes car but always thought twice about it)
While we're on this brotherly love subject, who's got a tiv in Nottingham and what do you drive? I've seen a few about and always wondered whether or not any of the guys on this bb were driving them.
Macca,
If you see a light green Chimaera (STE 2S) flash and wave, I'm usually out playing with a blue Griff (C1 RVY), or come along to the TVRCC regional meeting, Sunday lunch @ the Haven Inn, Whatton, half way between Nottingham and Grantham.
Or a general classic/sports car meeting @ The Queens Head, Watnall, on the 1st Monday in May, 7.00pm ish
By the way what do you drive, so I now which nutter is flashing and waving at me :-)
C Gibson.
It all depends whether a certain camera had any film in it on Saturday, was to busy looking where I was going and not concentrating on looking for cameras. The speed I was going should be an instant ban, lock me up, and make the papers, but not to worry, anyone want to buy a nice Chimaera, never raced or rallied.
