Tracing Tuscan engine rebuild

Can anyone help?
I'm trying to trace the history of a Tuscan, it had an engine rebuild by the factory in June 2006 this has been confirmed by Castle Tvr but they wont give me anything in writing.
Is there anyway I can trace this now TVR are not about?

Who was the servicing dealer at the time? They should have some documentation. Failing this TVR Power may have records.

Spoke to the dealer they confirmed it was rebuilt but they wont give me anything in writing, the service book is fully stamped by same dealer all its life but I have no invoices again they wont give me any copies
Spoke to Dom he tried but could'nt find any history.
I only want it in writing for peace of mind and if I sell

Why won't they give you a copy? DPA? Print off and remove customers name?

Was it done under warranty or paid for? When mine was done a couple of times by the factory under warranty, there was nothing provided in writing.

When I bought mine I had an email confirming that the facory rebuild had been done in 2005 and no further details. Phoned the dealer (HHC) who couldn't have been more helpful and provided copies of the work carried out. This included the original factory rebuild details, parts lists and modifications that were done to update the engine.

Even if you did get something it may not actually say much. Mine was rebuilt for the first time in 2007 by the factory. The paper work just says something like "engine taken apart and put back together" with no notes of anything being done.

I agree, can't see the problem with them supplying copy invoices for the work they've carried out on the car in the past especially as you can prove ownership and hence a valid reason for the request. A small admin fee would be acceptable I guess.

Seems to reflect my own experience of them and the reason my car goes elsewhere even if it does mean a 70 or 150 mile round trip.

Engine rebuild was done under warrenty, they wont give me any written info because of the data protection act, otherwise they were very helpful and told me lots of info which I would'nt have known like it had a clutch 8k miles ago.
I was hoping someone had access to TVR records?

If you know who owned the car when the rebuild was done perhaps they could request the information you want from the dealer? I believe that for a small fee the DVLA will give you details of the previous owners.

They clearly dont understand the DPA or most likely its an excuse.

As has been said - just have them copy the original invoice; tippex/blacken out any individual's personal data from the copy & copy it again for you . . . ergo no DPA breach. A lot of utter bullocks is spouted around the DPA!
