cerb cat d

I noticed this is now re-advertised on Ebay with a note that it was a cat d in 2001 now a repaired project.

A couple of week ago it reached £6100.00 but did not hit the reserve price.

Any idea whats it worth with no mot etc

Its not worth the sum of it's parts.
If sorted to a reasonable state it's worth 8k as cat D IMHO.
As it is it could need a few k thrown at it. So I'd pay no more than 5k for it if it lived up to the engine and chassis description.

I would not be worried about the cat d if the chassis is straight. A good body repair means restored to former glory and it is also a prime car for Chevy power (ducks for cover). Someone will 'man up' and take the challenge.

So have you seen it? The body is in gr8 condition and well painted?
The ad reads to me like there is lots to do and I reduce my previous valuation.

Well to give you a idea my Cerb 4.2 is a a cat d and when i did the deal we valued it at 9.5-10k with MOT and tax and 12k serviced less than 1000 miles ago

However mine was owned by Green star for 6-7 years so has never wanted for anything.

Yeah so 6k seems like a fair buy!

Sounds like your cars history brings it to the top end of Cat D valuations. General rule of thumb is to reduce the vlaue by 30% I think? Hence why I came to 8K. This car has had some engine "history", has a chassis covered in gunk, a terrible interior, hasnt moved for years, rubbish paint and bodywork etc etc etc..... So I think it could take a lot of time and/or money to sort.

Yes also a very fair point i think it would have to been seen in the GRP to really see what it is like up close and then make your mind up how much it would cost to bring back. or if you could buy a sorted one for less?

What set my alarm bells ringing was that in the previous ad's both on P.H. and Ebay, there was no mention of it being cat d which i assume the seller must have been aware of.

The buyer must be happy with what they paid for it so good luck to them, it is after all their money.

Another car not ending up as "spares" can only be good news.

That is their problem, either way it really doesn't matter because every time someone buys a TVR and pays too much for it (no matter what state it is in) that moves the prices up for all owners ................. I wish it had sold for even more

20k!!! i dont think it will even take a 2-3 k to put this back on the road look at the work that has been done , says the chassis is good engine has been out and sorted, a few niggles and a tatty inside nothing major if you do the work your self there not that hard to work on really.

Good on the buyer i dont think that they paid over the odds for it and its one more car saved i hope.
