Thatcham factory fitment approval on Meta alarms

Just a quick note on an update I recieved from Thatcham over the vailidity of the Meta system fitted to my T350, and other models I believe, by the factory upon production. The question was as follows, and I sent a copy of the standrd form listing the kit fitted on TVR letterheaded paper:
Hello, I'm trying to clear up an issue with the Meta system fitted by the TVR Factory in 2004 to my T350. Can you confirm if the said factory in Blackpool were certified Thatcham installers at the time as the equipment is in place as listed on the attached and working as expected.
Looking to clear up for insurance purposes mainly but also to give some validity to documents that came with the car now the factory no longer exists.
An answer came back stating:
This device was delisted by Thatcham in 2008, it is down to your insurers discretion as to whether they accept this device or not for insurance purposes. With regards to your attached letter, in 2004 the VSIB (Vehicle Systems Installation Board) were the recognised body for installers that fit Thatcham recognised products. Unfortunately the VSIB went into liquidation in 2009, and Thatcham launched it's own TRI scheme in July 2010.
Unfortunately we cannot provide information on your installation.

Not sure if this helps anyone but insurance questions have been raised over this just recently and any reason not to pay out is the target of some insurers. This loop hole is an ideal for such an instance.

From memory (8 years ago!), I think the Meta system was a 'Thatcham system', but to be 'Thatcham approved' it needed to be installed by a Thatcham approved installer (if that makes sense). The factory was not a Thatcham approved installer, so a statement that the system is 'Thatcham approved' cannot be made to an insurer. You can make the statement that it was factory fitted.
