Alarm Problem

Hi, I have a problem with my car's alarm/immobiliser.It is a 1998 Chim 450 with two Meta trapezoidal fobs. Neither of the fobs will work reliably, I have changed the batteries and generally messed about with them I can drive the car (so far at least!) by using the little plug in 'key' but can't lock it. I have spoken to the people at Car and Bike Installations. They say I need a new system. I am prepared to drive down to Petersfield, but it's nearly 150 miles each way. Has anyone had an alarm replacement nearer to Leicester? If so was it any good, cost etc?

No but Karl is very very good, knows his Meta alarms & how they fit & should be installed in a TVR. Worth the miles IMO. I have used him twice (audio & alarm) and its a 200 mile round trip for me.

+1, top bloke. only 15 miles for me

+2 if you use Karl it will get sorted first trip down to him so will almost certainly save you time in the long run as the alarms can be big trouble for the unfamiliar!

Raceproved are a Meta agent and a TVR specialist. They are North of you at Sheffield if thats any closer?
I havent used them for Meta stuff but have used Karl in late 90s and early 00's and he did a great job.

I would personally say it would be well worth the journey to see Carl Baker. I do not think there is anyone else out there that has even a small percentage of Carl's knowledge on the Meta system fitted to TVRs

It's also fitted to Fiats (coupes!?). So that might extend your opportunities.?
