Chim/Griff dashboards

Hi,

Out of interest as much as anything, but what things do you need to consider with dashboard panels for the Chim/Griff? Do you get problems with glare and reflections on the turned aluminium dashes, for example?

Also, what's involved in changing the panels. If something's cracked or not to your taste is it a big job to swap it for a new one? Ditto for the doorcards and transmission tunnel trim?

Dashboard panel is held in by three M6 nuts/bolts, radio panel is secured by four hidden self tappers: radio has to come out first. Door cards secured by three M6 nuts/studs plus an array of self tappers. Not had the centre console out but I think that's screwed down with just self-tappers.

Later cars tunnel is easy, early cars a little more challenging (due to tongues engaging under the dash panel making it trickier). Both need the handbrake cable slackening right off, which generally shows they haven't been touched in 10 years+ Still its a good opportunity to adjust the cable and ensure the handbrake brackets are secure and everything lubed

So it's a pretty basic DIY job?

Seen several cars with cracked veneer or materials that aren't to my taste, but sounds like that could be solved with a replacement panel (£100ish I believe?) and a spot of elbow grease.
