What did you play with before your TVR?

...or if you're just meaning cars, working backwards would give:
Mazda RX-8
Volvo V40 TD (those were bad years)
Mazda MX-6 (all I can say is it was comfy and beat standard Boxsters)
Nissan 200SX (insane but went very very spectacularly bang in the end)
...and everything before was various versions of Escorts, all removed from the motoring gene pool by myself.

I stuck a GReddy Turbo in it, and it cost more than my TVR to insure, but then it wasn't limited milage etc. (Then I had a shot of my mates TVR at Huntington, I'll have one of those please
)
This one wasn't turbo'ed but still went VERY sideways before it was un-recoverable. It was also VERY rusty... no worse than what you're thinking)

This was great fun, I just wanted to have RWD again.

got the head skimmed, but the block needed skimmed to, so I sold it
Golf GTi in here, but not got a pic... it didn't last that long, I had an off
My first proper fast car, I just couldn't afford the petrol at the time
1 of 10 16v imported & converted by Bell & Colville, never got it to run right, even after taking it to a Bosche injection specialist. Some stole it (I suspect the Council lifted it & were so incompetent they didn't know they had)
Yes, you guessed it, the Head Gasket went on this one too... and on the replacement engine I got too.
Some dross in here, shhh again.
My first acceptable speed car, also had a FAB suspension setup & Coraddo G60 brakes. I did VERY well on the track.

But this gets an honorable mention for sheer cheap fun, I paid £50 for it, and sold it for that to a mate, share the love

I had the engine from an SD1 in my Cobra replica. Of the interesting cars I've owned my Fiat Coupe 20VT was probably the best, damned fast, insane acceleration and very reliable - was still going strong when we parted company at 115K miles.
May have to change my sensible daily mobile skip car from a Focus to an Impreza estate. I need a turbo back in my life

Still regret getting rid of the XK. Great motor, great value, and they're so cheap now too.
Hope to get an XK-R next year to complement the Griff, particularly when it's raining.

Traded this to get my current TVR. I really liked the S2000, and if I had to have a 'sensible' sports car again I'd buy another. It went like stink when in VTEC, and I was quite partial to the induction noise at 9000rpm. Excellent brakes too. Only downside for me was the slightly numb steering, although the rack itself was pretty quick.
I used to think MX5s were camp, underpowered etc etc. Then I drove one. Those that have also driven a Mk1 will know why I ended-up buying this S-Spec. To be honest I think the Bilsteins and springs are a bit harsh for UK roads, but it was just brilliant on track. Sold to Mark S24 above.
Always wanted one of these, and had it for 3 years. Looked like a standard 2.9 VR6 on the outside, but had Schrick Variable Geometry Intake, 268 cams, AMD throttle body and remapped ECU, supersprint exhaust, koni dampers, H&R springs and uprated brakes. Only dyno'd at 220 bhp, but boy did it go. It also sounded fantastic. If it had been RWD I'd still have it.
Bought from Mark S24 and featured further up the thread. Not my first turbo'd RWD car (I had an S13 200SX), but the first that had north of 200bhp.

Me too, one of my absolute all-time favourites, but have never got round to owning or driving one. For me it's up there with the Ur Quattro, E30 M3 and 968CS. I wonder how they would stack up as rewarding driving experiences today?

The bubble burst with a Mk4 Golf V6-4 Motion that was c**p and haven't been back to VW since.

Comfy cruiser but a tad boring and under steered horribly
Stupidly safe at speed, round twisties....very little real skill required to go insanely quick (AYC)...managed to kill it on a Car Limits Day.
Realising a childhood dream...never let me down and extremely provokable/controllable (RWD 2.2)
Fantastic "family car" (as I sold it to the wife) that was heavily 'tweaked' ersulting in a car that defied physics - a car that size/shape shouldn't have been able to go as fast/handle as it did.
