Aargh, I've just bee out to the garage to sort a few niggles. Replace a banjo washer on the PAS, glue the bonnet heat shield and the roof. Once they were done that was it, everything would be functioning perfectly. I test drove her and everything was indeed perfect.

So I smugly put her in the garage and guess what. The handbrake, which has always been perfect suddenly and for no apparent reason broke. Now I'm sure it's not much but some days the sodding thing comes close to getting sold

Have you had it off already, (the exhaust etc to view the offender)?

Mine broke about a month ago, got a cable immediately and still haven't fixed it!

You can get to it from above if you remove the whale tail and then take the cover off that sits under there...

Really, I have never taken that off.

My cable has snapped at the caliper end, the rear bits are fairly easy to get to, just the handbrake conection looks inaccessable.

Can you get to it from inside the car then?

I'm fairly sure you do the cable from below, just drop the exhaust. Could be wrong about that...

Right, here's the console ready to remove



Next you have to remove the inspection cover, it's held down with sealant, I used a tyre lever to gently prise it loose.



And here's what you can get to in the car. In my case one of the bolts holding the ratchet in place had gone AWOL Still, I suppose it was a good opportunity to grease the gear linkages...
