Hi all,

I'm sure many of you have been in the same boat as this and i have done a search but for some reason the engine seems not to be working- so for the moment please bear with me.

Hagerty have sent me the 'we can't cover you anymore' letter after insuring my Tuscan for 3 years and the Chim for 18 months prior to that. I recently sold the Tuscan and for the time being have replaced it with a Griff 500- problem is i'm having trouble getting a good deal on insurance for the Griff. I used to pay £395pa for the Tuscan with Hagerty but have been quoted some ridiculous figures from what i thought were their direct competitors- A Plan etc.

Can anyone suggest a good alternative that will not break the bank please?

Cheers,

James

Sorry, forgot to mention i was 30, live in a 'reasonable' area smile

My Griff 500 is with Mannings. £330, thats garaged and limited to 5000 miles. Also found them to be very knowledgeable and helpful.

I moved to mannings when hagerty cut me off. Ended up paying almost the same as before but now with a lower excess.

Another vote for Classicline here. I wouldn't even bother with Flux if I were you.

Re-newed the insurance on my 450 SEAC after receiving the letter from Hagerty.

None of them could get close to last years quote with Hag £166
Best I could find was £254...2 of the 'quoters' went as far as to say that
they must have mis-quoted me!
rolleyes

oh quote was through Flux...seemed ok to me on phone though?

Tried all the above an I was quoted everywhere between £500-£1k for my Griffith. The big problem I found was that I was on a future classic policy and therefore never got any NCB with Hagertys.

Best quote was from REIS. Very helpful andthe cheapest.

Mannings renewed me at £530 from £570 no other insurance company could get close to that, most either said I was too young or wanted over £1000

Was with Mannings for years then with A Plan who are also very good but after a hike in premium this year, its back to A Manning and an excellent policy it is too!

Mannings wanted £832 renewal for me; class 1 business use, unlimited mileage and track cover.

MSM have covered me class 1, unlimited, wife as named driver but no track days for £400. As I doubt I'll get a track day in this year for various reasons (well, possibly 1) I've opted for MSN.

Perhaps you could assist the OP by actually suggesting an alternative then, as he asked?

The insurance rates change on a daily, sometimes hourly, basis so there will always be variances between quotes let alone differances in an individuals risk rate i.e. postcode etc

The real question is not how cheaply you can get the insurance but how good is the policy when it comes to making a claim and just like the quotes this can vary wildly.....but of course you will not know which companies to avoid because of the N&S policy.

I have used both Flux & Mannings. The last claim I made was with Flux 10 years ago on my 400se when my bonnet came off & they dealt with it efficiently, the only delay being the TVR factory trying to find the bonnet mould!

Perhaps I misunderstood your original comment, but you seemed to imply a bad experience with Classicline in respect of a claim. I for one would be interested to know if his was the case - not least because I am currently insured through them.

My Chim is insured with Richard Egger - very friendly folk, can add trackdays for pennies and they gave me the best quote by some margin; highly recommended
