TVRCC wet grip day at Rockingham - Saturday 10th July

This is a great opportunity to have a go on the only wet grip facility of it's type in the UK. It can simulate all sorts of low grip situations and will be a fun and educational day out. It's one of those skills we all need, especially in our light weight rear wheel drive TVR's!

This is a quote from Mike Howarth who attended a session last year - "I've got to say that this is probably one of the MUST DO things for ALL TVR owners, I learnt more about the cars handling on the limit in that 1/2 day than I have in the 6 months I've owned the car"

The day runs as two 3.5 hour sessions (one AM, one PM) and includes full professional instruction. Catering will be onsite as well as fuel if required. The cost is £85 per session, a similar day was run through PistonHeads last year and was oversubscribed so book early! Non-TVRCC members are welcome to book with an additional £5 charge for day membership. There is also a bike track day running to offer some entertainment whilst not on the wet grip facility.

I did this last year as part of the PH organised one - it was fantastic, I learnt a heck of a lot and if I wasn't busy on the 10th would be straight on the phone to book.

Is there a sound limit for this?

There has not been any mention of a limit in the paperwork I've received. I will check though - what car have you got? I have a pair of silencers that will fit a Griff / Chim / Cerb / V8S.

My T350 is 112db and I had no problems last year. To be honest you'll not be going much faster then 25mph so noise shouldn't be a concern. Fantastic day though.

Just had a reply - 105db static, but there was an additional comment - due to the bike track day running alongside us, the noise we make will be 'lost'

Tuscan 4.0 S - not many cats or silencers...

I'm pretty sure it would fail 105 static.

So if they check every car, like most track days, ah'm oooot!

If its a case of start the wet handling session, see how it goes, and they might test if they get a complaint, I would take the chance! Quite interested to explore the handling in a safe, low-speed way.

As for these days, they can run a wet grip session on the back of any track day on there - and there's loads. It just needs someone to organise it!

Sorry but "you'll be sent home if we feel like testing you" isn't enough reassurance to commit £90 plus the fuel for a 5 hour round trip. I think I'll give it a miss.

I can't say I blame you. I'll see how the day pans out and have a word with them, maybe next time we can be sure of the likely outcome of testing.

Its all low speed ,low revs ,my T350 is in excess of 116db and i had no problems last year , just a few people said how nice it sounded ..

Just to update this on the noise issue, we weren't noise tested at all and there was no mention of it. The instructors said that if there is a track day running at the same time then the wet grip folk are left alone. Interesting to note then that the facility is only available to book when there is a track day on!
