Advice on Euro roadtrip route please?

I am planning my first Euro roadtrip in the T350 for late June / early July and have spent hours coming up with what I think is a good route from all the various pieces of info spread around PH and the web.

I have put my proposed route onto the following google map and wondered if I could get a bit of feedback and any suggestions from those who have done a number of euro roadtrips and know what is good / what to avoid (ie.. TOLLS!!!)

BTW, I need to stop off in Evian-Les Bains, Zurich and Alessandria because I am staying with friends.

I'm planning a similar trip at the end of June but taking in the French and Italian Riviera before coming up through Monte blanc and lake Geneva, toll's are not that expensive and the route you've chosen is the quickest, I suppose it depends on your schedule and how quick you need to be there?

Be very aware of speed limit on the auto routes if you have a satnav that should indicate them,
have you got RAC Europe cover? absolutely invaluable for £70 ish definitely worth a look. get to Halfrauds and buy a Euro travel kit which includes hi vis vests, warning triangle,lens adapters,first aid kit,spare bulb kit, All a must in France you may get away with it but if you get pulled over by a french copper he can have you if your not carrying certain items.

Oh and there is a TVR garage near zurich incase you have a problem it may be worth calling them to see if they hold parts

We are doing almost the same trip also in a T350 at almost the same time too! Where exactly are you going? We're heading down thru Germany to Lake Constance, down & around Switzerland (including the San Bernadino Pass) and back up thru France, taking about 9 days in all. How about you? May see you on the road at this rate!

Have you managed to work out how to convert your headlamps on the T350? Having a bit of a dilemma about that one at the mo!

Once in Dole, head towards Besançon, then Baume les Dames (not the best part, highway only).
Then the fun begins: Baume les Dames --> Maîche --> La Chaux de Fonds --> Neuchâtel --> Bern.
Then highway again to Zurich.
You'll tell me what you think about this little piece of heaven!

Looks good. Only question is why go back the same way you came? It's a holiday not a business trip .

Alessandria isn't far from Alba village and Monferrato territory (great landscapes and wines). In the east there are many nice villages on Pavia hills (Voghera, Varzi, Bobbio, Penice Pass hillclimb, Zavattarello, Fortunago... In these territory there are many wine cellars too.

Towards Piacenza, Parma and Reggio Emilia is full of castles but maybe is too far.

going north, near Biella, there's the famous "Panoramica Zegna" road, one of the best for bikers (I've been told).

Thanks for some of those suggestions. I think I may now head straight for Zurich from Calais through Belgium, Lux and Germany, and then take in Andermatt before heading off to Davos for a night and then doing the Stelvio early the next morning and then down to Monza.

Still not sure on exact dates yet because I am trying to coordinate with a friend who I am picking up in Evian/Zurich and then dropping him off somewhere in Italy. Its likely to be the first/second week in July though I think.

My original plans was to not book any accomodation at all (apart from wher I am staying with friends) and just find B&B's (or F1 Hotels) along the way but is this a wise thing to be doing? A backup tent might also be a good option.

Make sure you have the vest in the cabin when in France. It needs to be able to be put on before you leave the car. It is a silly point but the French plod just view it as a tax on the stupid if you have it locked away in the boot.
