Going to Sell Mk 1 Tuscan – any advice?

I have too many cars and am struggling to justify the Tuscan – esp as the missis will not drive it.

I have just bought a cheap Elise which will suit my needs better.

Will miss the Tuscan (and the missis will miss its ability to carry loads of shoes) but looking forward to the free time/money I will have when I reduce my fleet from 5 to 2!

My car is a 2000 Mk1 Tuscan which has served me well for over two glorious years.

Would like some selling advice if you please…..

- My paint has a few chips – should I touch up or leave for next owner? I’m going to get a quote form a touch up place but I assume it will be about £400ish to make them 90% better

- I have Nitron suspension with only a few thousand miles on it – should I sell these separately?

- Is PH the place to sell? Worth paying out for Autotrader?

- I assume it’s not worth the expense of getting it checked over by a TVR ‘finder’ so that I can confidently tell a potential buyer the car is in good nick?

- It’s due a service in the next 1000miles – should I get it done or give the buyer buyer the option of doing themselves?

It it were me I'd leave the paint, leave the Nitrons on - great selling point IMO - have the service, the last 2 would probably make the car a bit dearer but a potential buyer would likely be happy for that to know that it's sorted.

You'd also find an enthusiastic buyer here, dropping it in Auto Trader or similar would probably get you a lot of tyre kickers and joy riders. Put a post in the Tuscan forum saying you are thinking of selling you may get a few bites. Also mention to local indies/dealers you are thinking of selling and they will put the word around too.

Case in point, I just bought a Cerbera, recommended to me but an indie, that has just had MOT/Service and has Nitrons fitted. I possibly wouldn't have got it if it meant I had to service/MOT it right away.

If I was buying I would obviously want it serviced and with the Nitrons on.

But as a seller - a service will cost me £500+ and I could probably get £700+ for the Nitrons

Will I actually see that back on top of a non-serviced and non nitroned car?

I obviously would not sell it without (or even a low MOT)

If I was a buyer I would perfer to have the price of a service knocked off and get it done myself - and checked out by the garage.

If I was the buyer it would sell quicker with a service and report from Power/Str6 etc

I suppose it depends how quick a sell you want?

You'll need to price accordingly and be prepared to move a little.

If you want to sell the car and make it "stand out from the crowd" - then I'd also recommend leaving on the suspension and getting it serviced. The shocks will be a key selling feature of the car, and the service at a REPUTABLE garage should give more "peace of mind" to a respective buyer. Also - if it needed a service then this would both put prospective owners off (not looked after properly, is it going to be a big bill, is there a potential issues that's being hiden etc etc)and also act as a "haggle point" for buyers.

Also - if you are advertising, provide decent photo's of the interior and exterior, and a VERY detailed description of all the servicing (when, miles, who) and other work / upgrades - this will help to "sell" the car and show you are a caring and fastidious owner...

Not sure if it is worth you paying for independent inspection? Although you could state in your ad that you are willing for the car to be taken to garage etc for inspection if required.

If I were looking and saw a S6 car for sale that was due a service alarm bells would ring as to why it hasn't been done. These cars are expensive to run and it would make me think the seller has other things to hide that require doing.
Too many sportscars are purchased after a service, run/thrashed and then sold just before the next service thus the current owner getting a cheap run and leaving a new owner with a potential big bill straight away.
I'm sure this isn't the case with yourself but as mentioned, if I were a buyer it would be my first thought!

might be interested in your tuscan, can you send me pictures pls [e-mail] have just sold my 240cup exige, looking to run a tuscan for a few months then take to sweden, just researching the coc paperwork for eurpoean use?

Andy at APM is good for servicing - of course you are also very close to Str8-Six...

I'd also say get it serviced, properly cleaned up etc, leave everything on it, and you'll get a strong sale on it.

OK will look to get everything done and leave it with nitrons.

Looking at current adverts its really hard to see where to price it - huge range out there.

I always use APM - great service.
