had any one ever made 200 MPH?
Discussion
Hi Paul,
The dataloggers I run in the TVR Tuscan Challenge will do the job. I happen to have one for my own Tuscan not wired in yet, and have made up a cigarette lighter adapter so I could test it in the Chim - you can borrow this if you like?
All you need to know is your Sag's weight (check it at a weigh station at most tracks or corner scales at any race shop) and you can either use my unit or purchase your own (contact me and I can try and get you a discount).
By doing a high and low speed recorded coast down (by dipping your clutch at high and low speeds), the logger can work out your aerodynamic drag and rolling resistance. It will then use this with your weight, lat and long g accelerometers and accurate gps feed to calculate your real time bhp and torque at the rear wheels to within 0.1bhp if set up correctly with accurate coast downs and ambient conditions put into the program. It will also record your speed, braking and cornering g so should be able to do all you need. The user interface is very good to use as well. If you would like a hand with it just give me a shout.
For info, check out www.racetechnology.co.uk and download the analysis software. I can send you some race car test data to play with if you like as well as car setups.

I seem to remember a long time ago, when my Dad and I went to bruntingthorpe for a TVR event. And at the end of the day, they had the 2 mile run down the runway.
There was a Cerbera there that got clocked at something very close to 200, can't remember if it was 200, I think it was something like 19x.
Everyone was gobsmacked by it,

Here's a related flip on YouTube.
There were three flips at Le Mans in 1999. The driver in two of the flips was a young Mark Webber. Boy done good!

I watched one of them happen, it was a very eerie moment.
I've certainly felt the front of a Griff begin to lift around the 120+ mark although I've also seen one go off the clock by a fair margin.
I believe Tuscans liked to Badar (Reach for the Skies
) and that T350s and Sags were probably the best able to stay focussed on the tarmac. Not sure about Cerbs.
The T400s were the only TVRs to get proper wind tunnel testing and managed to produce downforce at speed.
Good luck with getting the LS Sag to break 200. That will be a great milestone. Be safe.
Dependant on cd and frontal area and gearing - you would need between 400 ~ 480 bhp to achieve 200mph
Here is a useful calculation tool ..

Interestingly when I bought my Tuscan I ran through the LCD display options to see what the maximums the car has reached and was surprised to read this......

Now, I am not saying that the car is capable of 200mph (Tuscan with 4.3 TVR Power rebuild) but it is a great picture to show the uninitiated when talking about the car

Me too, although it was on the big screen in the Village. An indicated ~175 in my mate's Cerbera somewhere in France didn't feel too bad from the passenger seat, and it didn't even break down until we got back to England.

yeah but he lifted on the crest and was in a "full draft" situation. The air turbulance off the viper (??) lifted his nose when he came off throttle at the crest and then flipped him.... webber has been about of a while thinking about it.And to think, this car actually had been tested in a wind tunnel and had positive downforce:
