So, it's that time of year again and I'm umming and arring about changing the car. What do you do?
I do about 3,000 miles a year and my Chimaera 400 has been BRILLIANT, I've spent a few quid on it and the spec is superb, condition fantastic but..... Do I want to drive the same car all my life? So do i....

1) Change it for a Cerbera and lose the open top factor?

2) Change it for a Tuscan and double my insurance? (compared to Cerb and Chim)

3) Buy a newer Chim, 450 or 500?

4) Keep mine which I know is good and let Mark Adams loose on it etc and possibly but a Ducatti?

My heads spinning!

If you think the chim is top, why change?

Upgrade to the 500

you know you want to.

Jeff.

(after that go see Austec for more goodies for the engine)

4) But remember that Ducati has 1 "T", and will require more TLC than the TVR.

TVR & Ducati in the garage - can't get any better!

Well I've done this already, and there is a snag....

When the sun comes out, you can only take ONE!

Unfortunately for my Ducati, I've had it a while, and the TVR was the new toy last summer, so the Duke hasn't come out of the garage since

I know what you mean, bought my griff late last summer,I have a speed triple too.
Now I dont really have a interest in the bike, plus the garage is a bit crowded with the Griff being wider than the TR6 that was in it before.
I just dont know whether to sell the bike....

Morning

I had the same thoughts last July. Looking at your profile you have spent a good few quid on the chim already. So its a case of swapping it (although some of the goodies from yours could be swapped over if you bought another chim; wheels, gear knob, etc) and taking a hit for the goodies you have bought and unfortunately get nothing for in p/ex, and swap for something else. Or upgrade yours as you say, but by doing so you would be keeping the car for the long term to justify the expense? For ~£2k you could get a Mark Adams chip and ACT induction system which would make the car much faster.

When it comes down to it I suppose its down to how long you want to keep the car. But remember if you start upgrading the engine, then the brakes will feel like they need uprating, so will the suspension, etc So maybe its worth looking at a change where you get a 'better' car in all areas (power, brakes, suspension, etc) straight out of the box? Cos' you'll get very little of your substantial outlay back when you come to sell the chim if you mod it up further, but how long will you keep it for? Horses for courses I suppose

No buts about it Colin, your cars in top condition,it looks great but perhaps you just need more power."Blow it",be the first to fit twin turbo's to your 400.I'm sure their are plenty on PH to advise you how and where to go, but your first point of contact should be Rich at Peninsula..zz

Yup and am waiting for them to get me the right one and the deal is done. Thing is, if I can flog the Chim privately, I have a bigger market to look at!
