Diff rebuild in Surrey or near?

After a hard day at Snetterton yesterday, I noticed a distinct whine and pronounced shunt from the diff at low speeds, ( can't hear it at speed 'cause of all the other noises ).

Thought I might whip it out and get it overhauled before it gets any worse.

Any recommendations as to who to take it to?

Pretty sure most people tend to use Gearboxman http://www.gearboxman.co.uk/ - around Luton area I think, so not Surrey but not too bad, could also courier it up maybe.

I may be dropping off a gearbox there in the next week or 2.
Maybe could meet and get your diff on the way from Portsmouth???

These guys are in Leatherhead. Rebuilt my Saisbury diff about 5 years ago. They were recommended by Austec, who use them for such work.

Before you have a rebuild - make sure the centre diff nut is tight. We have experienced them
loose and this causes whine. It's actually a collapseable washer that is set-up with the diff but if its loose then it will whine.

Behind the flange that the rear of the propshaft bolts to. If yours is a Salisbury diff, you just undo the 4 nuts and bolts that join the prop to the diff and swing it to one side. The problem is that if the nut is slack, you can tighten it a bit, but as Rev says, it clamps a washer which crushes a specific amount to set the pre-load, and the washer only crushes once. May be worth try, and tighten a little to see if it makes any difference.

If it is finger tight or less then you have this issue .. you cannot make it any worse

If it's all tight then you might as well carry on and remove it/ refurb.
