Thought I'd share this (odd) one with you.

Renewal notice arrived from A Plan on my MkI 4.3 Tuscan. Only other modification is upgraded suspension, limited 7000 miles, on drive overnight, nine years NCB with a written off Chimaera two years ago, 48-year old driver, fully comp, £350 excess, protected NCB. Premium increased from around £580 last year with QBE to £790 with Markerstudy!!!

Phoned A Plan, suggested this was unreasonable and that they and I start shopping around. They offered me a £30 reduction. I phoned Adrian Flux, among others, and a few days later received their quote: "MkI 4.3 Tuscan. Upgraded suspension, limited 7000 miles, on drive overnight, nine years NCB with a written off Chimaera two years ago, 48-year old driver, fully comp, £350 excess, protected NCB."£465 with Markerstudy.

Shurely shome mishtake?

Long story cut short, A Plan claim the underwriters told them that if Adrian Flux issue the policy on that premium the underwriters would render it void. Adrian Flux claim that's nonsense and I'm the second one this week to tell the same story. They accepted my premium and assure me the policy won't be cancelled.

We had/have 5 cars and other stuff insured with A Certain Insurance Outfit. As renewals come through it is pretty clear they are starting to take the 'micheal'. We will be moving as items come up for renewal.

Interesting. I've got the Griff and the Audi with A-Plan at the moment and they were the most competitive by far last year. I'll look forward to receiving my renewals later in the year !!

Coincidentally Mrs F's renewal arrived right after my OP. A bog standard Honda CR-V = £429.00 (up from £355 last year). A quick search on t'internet = £268.00.

shoutA Plan. Sort yourselves out!!!!

A-Plan wouldn't accept 'risk' to insure new 4.3 Sag due to uprated engine. A Flux didn't even have the decency to return ANY of my calls.

A MANNING UK were superb, competitive and most knowledgable.

'Is the TVR Sagaris a 5 door hatchback?' Quote/Unquote from A Flux!

Hello it's very out of order that A-plan would tell you that as they have no idea of our rules ect and they are nothing to do with us. We have some specialist schemes for these type of cars so we are normally pretty competetive. The Markerstudy schemes we have are all Adrian flux schemes that are underwritten by markerstudy. Any problems give me a shout.

I had the opposite, Was with Aplan, got my renewal and it had gone down by £100 or so, had a shop around and could get it cheaper by another £100 or so. Was planning on ringing Aplan to cancel then my phone rang, it was them saying they had reviewed the quote and spoken to the insurer and had got it down. It was a couple of quid cheaper than anyone else could offer so stayed put. At a full £200 less than A Flux could offer. I pay £358 FC GV on a 2000 Tuscan doing 5k a year (parked in garage) Oh and im only 27.
