TVR Dealers - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly....

The straw that broke the camels back....TRYING to follow my boyfriend's Griff last weekend in my Audi Cabriolet...the noise (the roar of his car, the cursing going on in mine), the speed (his obviously fast, mine laughable!)....!
Came home, didn't even take my coat off before I started posting adverts to rid myself of the dreaded Audi and arrange the all important TVR test drive! I always wanted a Chimp but had been recommended to try the Tamora so I thought I'd test drive both...twice...at two local TVR dealerships...tough life eh?!!
So off I went all excited and nervous to venue 1 - initial look down the nose as if I was something you didn't want to have walked in (was this because I was a girlie or driving an Audi or both?!) nasty disclaimer trying to limit me to buying a car through them and £1000 excess and then more interested in getting my boyfriend to get his services done there than seeing if I liked the car and then the hard sell....buy it or else!
Venue 2 - what a world of difference when I got to RACING GREEN....helped me with directions, hot coffee waiting for me, welcomed me, showed me all the cars with huge enthusiasm, took me out for a decent length demo and then test drive and then offered to take me out again in my preferred option (Tamora) for a longer drive whenever I wanted. Very very helpful, very very professional and knowledgeable, very very friendly and down to earth....guess which dealership gets my thumbs up and any future business??!!! If you read this - thanks guys for making my day - I haven't stopped grinning (my face aches!!) and can't wait to get my Tamora!!!!!!!!!

Yup it can be like that!
I've been to RG a few times and had excellent treatment including a good demo and test drive in a Tuscan. (John Heywood on the Pirbright Bends - Wayhay!!!!

I remember a few years ago going to a different dealer in the area - long before Racing Green were a twinkle in anyone's eye as far as TVRs were concerned. And it was a year or so before I got properly bitten by the TVR bug.
I was looking at a rather nice Chimaera in the showroom - my girlfriend of the time drove us there in here new Mitzi GT3000, otherwise I might have looked a bit scruffy, I expect.
After a considerable time delay (and there was no one else in the showroom) a guy came over and said hello. I casually said I was looking at cars like a Chimaera or a Z3M or similar. He asked how many miles I would do in a year, I said 16,000 and his reply was "go and buy a BMW".
Anyway, luckily, a few years later I was intoduced to Adrian Blyth - otherwise I'd never have had a TVR.
(I've just thought - perhaps that has subconsciously affected my view of the Chimp and explains why I drive a Griff!)

Similar experience here. RG were the friendliest and most helpful by a country mile, and they got my order.
Maybe the test drive could have been longer - but then again time flies when you're having fun!

Now you know that I fancy a Tuscan - I keep trying to tell you that I fancy yours and hinting that I'll bid tuppence ha'penny for yours when you've finished with it!

Whilst looking for a Griffith I have also had very good service from Fernhurst (In Midhurst) and Adrian Blyth (Greyshot) and recommend you go to see them both.
They are both just off the A3 south of Guildford.
(Actually, thats crap directions but gives you a general idea of their locations!).
On PH Apprentice can help with Adrian Blyth details.

She's (Anita) only gone and done it. Today she handed over the folding stuff and is now the proud owner of a lovely Rosso Pearl Tamora (Dylans old car for those who know it). Got it checked over by the one and only Steve Howard who gave it general thumbs up with the usual niggles that every TVR has.
I think her grin will subside in 6 months.

Lovely car, can't say I've thought the Tamora was the best design they ever did but with this colour it WORKS. It looks more aggressive and "together" than that horrid yellow one that was sent to press.
Completely different drive to my Griff too. I was a little suprised how rough the Speed 6 sounds below 3k or so but then us Griff drivers never go much beyond 5k as it's all over by then
In the Tamora that's where it all starts. Still prefer the V8 burble to the S6 clatter/howl
