I always fancied a TVR but I can only drive autos, did TVR ever make an auto?

No, they didn't.

It's conceivable that one could be retro-fitted to a Chimaera or Griffith as the Land Rover & Range Rover also used the Rover V8 on which their engines were derived from, but it's unknown if they would clear the chassis though.

Yes TVR made some automatic Wedges. I've driven a couple of auto 280i's, I think there are one or two 350i's and there is currently an Auto 450SE in the classifieds although looking rather overpriced if you ask me !!

If you have the budget, Racing Green have been working on a paddle-actuated sequential gearbox for fitting S6-engined cars. Big money though.

Thats a shame, I've done the auto box into a manual on a couple of cars, the gearing is always way out.

As the S series uses the Ford Cologne V6 (Capri / Granada / Scorpio incl Cossy) all came with auto it may be easy to fit an auto box if there is enough clearance in the chassis.

They did make some auto's as previously stated.

One of a pair is currently for sale, previously owned and lovingly looked after by a friend of mine. Built at unbelievable cost for the time allegedly and as I remember it for an middle eastern gentleman with significant wealth who had two of these made.

One in Juniper Pearl Green (the one in the link below) and one in red (which seemingly has disappeared) and we no longer know of its location. One each for 2 palaces, connected by a long straight road . . . You get the picture hehe

It was previously owned by Tim and he had only recently sold it to the dealer as he had no takers advertising it himself and needed to move it on, I'm sure he would be prepared to discuss it with you if you emailed him.

TVR manufactured the 'Wedge' with automatic gearbox, I own a 1988 280i which has a Ford Cologne engine fitted with Ford Sierra automatic gearbox as standard. I believe only around 30 were ever made. Don't know if 350i etc were ever made with auto box's.

There was famously a 390SE with an auto box at HHC that went through the showroom window. Who was the head salesman? Tony?

I had a Tasmin 350 auto for eight years. It was a purely logical decision. Wanted a convertible, needed an auto, sick of cars rusting. There was one in Exchange and Mart so I bought it; only found out later how rare they were. Not cheap to run, not that fast, it might have been a Range Rover engine, whatever was lying around in the parts bin, but lots of torque, superb handling, and comfortable too. Sold it to a Dutch collector in 1995, not sure what became of it.

A member of our local TVRCC has an automatic 280 Tasmin. He’s owned it for about a year or so and it gets very regular exercising.

She is really beautiful this Tasmin, a bit expensive for a Tasmin, but probably deserved. I'm living close to it, I may go there just to have a look, pure curiosity.
