Goodwood festival of speed

Guys,

Am about to book some grandstand tickets for goodwood festival of speed and want to know what are the best grandstands to sit....any ideas?

Paddock's good - you get to see the cars going down to the start, on the hill climb run and on the return to the paddock.

Go on the Friday and you can use them all, buy a roving ticket.

Go for the Crossroads grandstand for the Sunday, definately the best, it's on the second turn so you get to see all the sideways action, you get a good view of them going up the main straight, and all the cars coming out from the Cartier enclosure!

Me and a couple of friends are contemplating trekking over to Blighty from Canada (the new world )for GFOS.

What do we need to know? When should we be looking at getting tickets. We would do the whole weekend pass. Are there places to stay nearby?

Any hints or tips would be appreciated.

Hi Alan, we've been to the festival of speed for the last two years, we did think about booking grandstand seats, as it happen's we were glad the we did'nt, as there are loads of free space on the smaller stands.
And as there is so much to see all day,you would hardly be in the seat at all.We are going again this year, and here's a couple of tip's we felt would be good to pass on.
Go on the Sunday, secondly stay into the early evening, coz that's when Lord March gives out the prizes for the weekend, after the prize giving he invites all those who stayed on to, "come into his house for cake and Shampers", plus you miss all that homeward bound traffic!!
We did!!and rubbed shoulders with Coultard/Moss/Surtees/Button....etc etc.
I could go on for another page but i won't, i know Diane would!!

Crossroads grandstand!!!

See them come up the hill... sometimes onto the grass then blat up the hill under the bridge...

I've thought about going before but have never got round to it. Was watching the coverage of last year's event on the Speed channel the other day and will definitely have to get there this year if poss.

Dear Gary tholl ---- book ASAP this gets sold out pretty quickly and accomodation also - the nearest hotel I could find last year was a good hour away from Goodwood. If you buy a weekend ticket inc a grandstand ticket you can sit in any of the grandstands on the friday but you get allocated seating for the Sat and Sun so you can come and go as you please knowing your seat is available when you get back.....

Crossroads area on other side of track in front of house is spot on, see the start on the big screen then get it 'live' on the section of hill in front of house (F1 cars donuting one year, burnouts etc etc !) then watch rest of hill on screen.

All tickets are advance sales only this year, none on the gate Fri or Sat I believe.

Yep I might think of flying in, do a few barrel rolls and scare a few spectators
