Tuscan insurance twice that of Cerb or Chim!

I am having a bit of a dilemma as to what to do about my car, I have been pondering about changing it for a day or two now so I just checked insurance, I'm 31 with max no claims and no penalties...

My car - N reg Chimaera (£16k) = £ 450
Poss - R Reg Cerbera (£20k) = £ 449
Poss - W reg Tuscan (£26k) = £ 850!!!!

This quote was off my current insurers Sunninghill, I also had a similar quote from Mannings, they both said a Tuscan is an underwriters nightmare! Too many are getting written off to get a reasonable insurance quote anywhere.

Perhaps I should stick with my own car and have someone like Mark Adams breath on it, I would hate to end up with a car that's not as good as my own??

Indeed, something to do with 3 million pounds worth of
claims up to June last year?!

You should try Tesco's and Direct line,they seem more reasonable.
I'm 32 full no claims,park outside,unlimited mileage and with my 27 year old girlfriend on the policy,£560 from direct line.
The only down side is there's no track cover on that.
Not to say that it won't shoot up this year with the a mount of crashes that seem to be happening.

Jessica, did you try the TVRCC insurance lot (A Manning)? Got my insurance down from £1000 to £444 (limited to 7kpa full NCB, 37 (but very young looking )garaged)).

Direct line seem to be competitive until you find out they require a tracker fitted which effectively adds another £400+ to your premium

My quote was almost identical. Phoned Direct Line

Tuscan S, 03 Reg. Est. value £48000, £505, Result!

Must be fitted with a tracker over £40K value.

You can get all quotes online, just register.

Tried them Al, a bit different...

Chimaera = £ 601
Cerbera = £ 659
Tuscan = £ 688

??? So cheaper on the Tuscan and dearer on the Cerb and Chim, higher excesses too.

From what I understand Sunninghill's underwriter isn't too keen on taking on new Tuscan owners and as a result are pitching v high. As an existing Sunninghill customer with a Tuscan they are still the most competitive for me.
