Hi new to the forum i was searching for infomation on the web on TVR/Rover motors and kept seeing this forum in my search results. however i haven't found what i was looking for what did TVR do to get the 5.0 engine size what parts are Rover and what parts are TVR. from what i can find the rover and tvr blocks share the same bore size of 3.7 so the blocks are the same? crankshaft stroke of 3.5 so tvr made the crank? rover didn't use this stroke in a block did they? have not found any information on rod and piston specs. what about heads? thanks for any information that you can share.
Could be well wrong here.but my knowledge of this is that the block casting was the same,but everything else was moddified for tvr use,crank rods and pistons to get the desired capacity,ported heads and bigger valves and tvr spec camshafts etc....even the dizzy had tvr spec bob weights fitted.
All i can really add is that the 5l crank is defo a TVR only part and they are expensive ~ 1K. I think they tweeked it so much to make 5l without changing the bore, that it is a bit weaker than standard Rover ones.
