London TVR .... any good ?

Hello all, I'm biting the bullet and going to get my clutch replaced and I need to get the car serviced too, the 24K service. spoke to a chap at London TVR in Tuffnell Park, North London and they sound pretty decent and knowledgeable. I've never heard of them though.
I used to go to TVR Centre in Barnet then I had a brief spell going to Offords but wasn't satisfied with their work at all. TVR Centre seem to be quite a bit more expensive than London TVR so I just wanted to know if anyone had dealings with them and what they thought of their work.

Never used them but I seem to remember a thread a while back from the Cerb forum that gave an opinion or two. How about str8six in Henley. £750 inc VAT for the service (had mine done in Oct last year. That included the fluids, geo & Tappets. Not sure on clutch prices but if you are doing the slave as well its about £1100.

Jason hasn't been at Henley for a while...he had moved to Lewknor by late 2008 IIRC. I really should know exactly when as I live around the corner. I've been using him since he moved and would second the recommendation.OP, Str8Six have a recovery vehicle and I'm sure they could collect (and if necessary return) your car for a sensible price.

There are lots of TVR dealers and specialists out there who sound nice and knowledgeable (because they probably are). In my experience that unfortunately does not automatically mean they will do a great job. To put it into perspective: I live in London and bought my car from London TVR. Still, I had it serviced last week all the way in Hampshire at Racing Green - who did an excellent job.

Speak to Jason from Str8six, the crews there are extrmemely helpful and friendly. They picked my car up and I am also in North West London. If you let them know in advance, they will give you a courtesy car too. I think the only way to find out how good they are is to visit them and talk to them face to face. I am sure there plenty of TVR specialist around, but once you found one, there is no point of searching around. Frankly I won't go anywhere.

Do you have the details for London TVR, in Tufnell Park... I did a quick seach on google and have not found their details...
I live in Tufnell Park and was not aware that there is a TVR garage in the area...?
My Chimaera is at teh TVR CEnter in Barnet at the moment for it's MOT (Passed yesterday) and for it's service (being doen as we speak...).
So far I had my car at the TVR Center 3 times since I have it (in July last year): to chnage the wing mirror (1st time), replace alarm / imobiliser and have a few other bits and pieces done (2nd time) and now for the service and MOT... So far I have always found them really professional and the work they carried out has been good... I guess they might charge a little more that TVR specialist outside, but I guess running their garage in London costs more...?
I woudl like to know what you think about TVR in Barnet and also to get the details of the TVR Center in Tufnell Park...

I used to go there for years but last time I showed up none of the original people were there. In fact, there were hardly any TVRs to be seen. When I asked what was going on, I got some story about how they were storing the TVR's being worked on down the road (sounded like nonesense). I was then presented with a mechanic whom I had never seen before and whose boss said he worked on my car. In addition, his boss who apparently was in charge of the place now made disparaging remarks (with no discernable justification other than "we can do it better") about the people who worked there before and who had done a great job. When I asked the mechanic directly, he seemed unsure and could not tell what if anything, it was he had done on my car that was standing right there. In addition the "boss" told me that he had loads of TVR parts still so there would be "no problem" - sounded like he was more interested in unloading the parts than in what I actually needed done o my car (a simple 6,000 mile service). It all came across as strange and I left. Make your own judgment, but I chose to take my TVR elsewhere. I would have felt very uncomfortable leaving my TVR there. But that is merely my opinion.
My 450 SEAC is currently at Str8six, i live in High Wycombe so they are not to far.
1st impressions: Very good, polite, called me regular to update the progress.

I have a courtesy car from Str8six whilst my TVR is being sorted. I think the car is called a Per-dua....something like that anyway. Its a bit of giggle to drive, i feel like Noddy in it!
Not having looked under the bonnet, i think its a 3 cylinder...sounds quite nice when you pull away!
