Off to Scotland(i think)

In June we are hoping to take the T350c to scotland
(from Essex)we normally fly from Luton and hire a car at Inverness. But now my confidence in the car has grown, and bits have stopped falling off!! we thought that we will drive up this time.
only thing that bothers me is....i keep on reading on here about TVR's getting attacked by people with a serious envy problem!! my question is,...do you think that it would be safe on the OrkneyIslands /Skye /Shetland Islands
As the roads are brill up there with hardly any traffic
i think it's a must do,...don't you?
Keep an eye out for the story in Sprint!!(we hope)

I have been taking the TVR to scotland for the last 14 years, never had a problem. Any technical problems Brian Luti at Dreadnought Garage in Callander will sort you out.

I've had my TVR (and numerous other cars) up and around those areas for years without any problems at all. Great place to drive and spend time. I think the people are great as well.

I took the Porsche around the highlands last year. Brilliant. Knackering doing the distances to get there and back but touring around - just marvellous.

I think you'd be damn unlucky to have any trouble - just be careful where you leave the car (as normal) and it should be just fine.

I recommend Mull, Skye, Torridon and so on...

Make sure you treat yourself to the A93 between Perth and Braemar - just beautiful.
Oh, and you should worry about the sheep more than the locals...

Yup, car will be fine (although you will probably have to wipe drool off it)
I have taken my Chimaera up to Orkney on various occasions with no problems at all, though I managed to cause a complete halt to the Safeways checkout once, as the guys on till went out to look at it
There's a guy with an old Griff up there IIRC, and there used to be a Chimaera up in Shetland (may still be there for all I know)
Not heard of any locals in Skye with a TVR though

I go to stay with my parents every summer in Loch Carron, not a problem. The A9 from Edinburgh to Inverness is great. Just watch and worry about the sheep, but more importantly the dear!!!

Went back in Jan after our hol in Lochcarron in Sept. Looking for a house up there hence Chimaera is up for sale. going back for a week in March. House hunting etc.

I live by Loch Torridon for 6 months of the year...and have had a Lotus, an M3, two Caterhams and now a 911 turbo up there... the only problem I ever get is that the local kids all want a ride in it

It certainly is!
Not a lot available at the mo, was up there for xmas, no griff though, too much snow and was easier to get the train up from London!
Probably up again this summer. Good luck with the hunting.

I'm from Glasgow and I was up there over xmas time with my Cerb and had no problems.

I even had it parked at the barras market in the city centre. Had a couple of drunk nutters having a good look at it but they loved it.

I lived up there until about 3 years ago and never had any problems with any of my cars anywhere including on the islands so you should be fine.

Don't worry your car should be perfectly safe, if you can, it is well worth taking the time to go up to Ullapool and on to Lochinver,IMHO the best roads and scenery in Scotland are in this area,its absolutely awesome and I try to get up there every year.

the journey from Colchester to inverness take me 8 hours (550miles), but will depend on your route!
