Resin covered TVR badge needs sorting

Not often I venture out into the big wide world of General TVR Stuff & Gossip !
Hello everyone

My front end TVR badge is resin covered but the resin has lifted on the T and I've now got polish under the resin and it looks kak.

Has anyone ever removed and replaced this resin? How did you get the resin off and what did you replace it with.

Or has anyone an an ideas?

Or do I just glue it to the garage wall and phone Leven?

I think you need to remove the resin, clean it up and use it as a flat badge. Or send it to Leven as you suggest. Not really a DIY thing.

Blast with fine oxide and then prime / paint. I did mine in the anthracite I had originally for the rollbar and made shiny color co-ordinated gear/door knobs, grille, badges in an idle moment...

It may be easier for you to take them to a pickling plant to get cleaned back, & I assume you have spray guns to go with your compressor? Pretty sure I used acid etch primer as I did the at the same time as the ally bits and everything has adhered fine.

I gave mine a quick soak in "Nitromors" to remove resin, the chrome underneath was good so just painted in the "slots" with little tin of Humbrol from local model shop.

As others have said remove resin and repaint, however you can get clear resin gel from modeling shops that you can use to reapply the resin yourself.

For the small price Leven charge I would send it off now. You get a new badge back in a few days.

I suspect this is a Leven badge already, because its in very good nick underneath the resin.

I think I'll try the Nitromors trick to get the resin off and hopefully leave the paint underneath intact and give it a polish.

Then I'll see what it looks like and might give the clear resin from the model shop a go, it can't be that different to making up gel coat and I found a good tip of warming it with a hairdryer or blowtorch after its applied to get the bubbles out.

Leven do an exchange badge policy, a high spec(resin coated Gold) badge cost me £35... My advice is send it off before you make a complete mess off it and render it useless. Original badges are getting scarce hence the exchange policy.
