I hear so many reports of the BHP figures for TVR. 340 for a Griff 500 dropping to 320 for instance. Once put on the Rolling Road the figure seems un-achievable. I appreciate not all rolling roads read the same. I know its only a number at the end of the day but can any one clarify this?
It seems that according to what people have said on this site very few people see what TVR claim for the rover engined models on a rolling road.
However I do remember a few years back Autocar bunging a cerbera on the rollers and the corrected figure was spot on. That said most of the Rover cars have a somewhat dubious engine management system which is why Mr Mark Adams can earn a living out of making them work properly which would probably account for most of 'low' readings.
The Cerbera 4.2 was dyno tested at exactly 360 bhp (as claimed) by Autocar. However, this is an unlikely co-incidence and the strong rumour was that the press car was specially prepared and actually had a 4.5litre engine.
There have been several people who have driven various of the press cars over the years and have said that they been noticeably quicker than the production ones....
What about a dyno day for all TVRs?

how about this then ....
earlier post from steve:
All,
One or two people have shown an off list interest in a Cerbie rolling
road shootout. So let's get it on. I've been in contact with Rich and
Dirk at Powerstation in Cheltenham who are keen. They have set a date
of Sat 24th March, we get the RR all day. Anyone interested can e-
mail me off list (Shootout@planetEarp.net) and I'll start adding
names to lists there will be a maximum number of about 20 cars, as it
takes about 15-20 minutes to prepare each run. Anyone and everyone is
welcome first come, first served. The cost will be about £20-25 per
run including printout and free advice. There might even be a prize
for the highest\lowest outputs on the day.
Cerbie Rolling road shootout
Starting 9:00am at Powerstation, Cheltenham

There are lots of rumors about the press cars, but i think tvr only admit to having them blueprinted. the 4ltr chim press car was suppossed to have a 4.5 / 5 ltr engine but when recently rebuilt it was found to have a normal sized engine..
