It always makes me smile when passengers can't get out of TVRs - watching them rub their left hand on the door trim (or open the ashtray on the Chimaera) in the vain hope it will open by magic, but this really made me laugh.
Went to get the wheels balanced on my Tuscan, and used a place that has all the latest gear and seems to treat cars with respect. So the manager asks for my keys as they the fitter has to drive it in for insurance purposes (which is rubbish, but I wasn't too worried). I said he could, but they wouldn't be able to start it
He said they'd let me know if they needed any help..........
Sure enough, I watched the fitter (not a spotty youth) open the door OK as they all know about that bit (thanks Top Gear) and then sit there for two minutes not being able to start it
In the end I took pity and went and started it for him.
An arrival in the fitting bay, he then has to sound the horn so his mate can let him out. After they'd finished and he reversed out, he had his mate holding the door partly open as he reversed as he daren't close it in case he was locked in
The funny part is they knew I was watching, but they just wouldn't admit they needed some advice. Thank God TVR built some individuality into their cars (along with big engines and loud exhausts of course.....).

No helping some people.I used to love watching friends trying to figure out how to either get in or out of my TVR's, and then when they had found how to get the door open, watching them either falling in or struggling to raise themselves out because of being low down.
I'm also amused when someone tries to move my Audi as unless you're aware how to start them, they sit their aimlessly turning the key with nothing happening

Shifted 90% of it, it's just that "harmonic" vibration left that's in the Tuscan thread I started.I had my wheels balanced and that improved it also, but it's still there and driving me crazy. Have pumped all the transmission grease nipples full of grease, changed CVs and drive shafts, all to no avail.
If you get to the bottom of the problem Konrod, please let me know. It's making me
Hi thought you may like my story.
Got married in June 2008, hottest day of the year and wanted my future wife to be brought to church in my Chimaera, and we could drive off to reception in her.
Cleaned and dressed for a wedding dropped her over to my brother in law who was giving her away, hood up as it was decided not to spoil the expensive hair.
Found out afterwards from my wife that the brother in law was stuck in the car for 45min unable to open windows or doors, dressed in full morning suit, 100deg cockpit temp and looking very red and sweaty when he was eventually rescued.

While the humor of these anecdotes is not lost on me, and I've always loved the individuality TVRs offer, I do feel rather strongly that any car door should be considered an "emergency exit". As such, similar to building codes used in many jurisdictions, any car door should provide a "safe and effective escape through a doorway with minimum effort and without prior knowledge of operation".
All IMHO, of course.
