Due to the current weather I've not used my Tuscan for a couple of weeks. I got one of these chargers earlier this week...

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/...

My question is, how long should it take to charge fully. The battery was not too run down, the dash said 11.5v with the ignition on but engine off.

I've had the charger connected for the last 2 nights (but not during the day), but the red light has still not gone out. I've connected it through the Anderson socket under the car.

Thanks.

I have this model. To actually charge may take a while as it only trickle charges if I remember correctly. I don't know how long before the light changes colour, but on mine it certainly happens over night.
Daft question but are the doors shut properly etc? If mine is plugged in and the door is open - i.e. the interior light is on, then it will show red all the time.

Are you sure it's not just topping-up the battery when you go out to check on it? I have a charger constantly connected via the anderson connector when the car is sat in the garage and as soon as it senses a drain on the battery, it kicks in. Made me a bit worried to start with that I had a duff battery.

Check the voltage on the dash or with a Fluke to double-check.

Normal for this kind of charger to take 3-4 days if the battery is REALLY flat.

Thanks guys. I'm pretty sure the doors etc are closed OK. I'll keep an eye on it over the next couple of days. If still nothing by friday I'll take the car cover off and see what the dash is saying.

i have one of these, even unlocking the door will turn the light red, suggest leaving it on and it will turn to maintenance mode eventually

I've got the fully automatic Halfords charger (on offer a couple of years ago)which seems to work fine, charges from flat to full in around 24 hours.
Usually leave it on over a weekend once a month during the winter.

Costco were doing a charger which would do every thing from condition the battery to providing an instant 80amp boost £45

I've just bought one of these for my Tuscan and it will NOT charge a flat battery, however long you leave it. Read the instructions and it needs at least 6 v coming back from the battery to activate the charge mode.

Mine had been left for 2 weeks and only took 24 hours to top-up then switch over to conditioner mode (green light).

Hope this helps

Hey, I just rooted out my old halfords car charger to dind there is no fuse in it and I can't find any information on where the fuse goes. Would anyone know what fuse this needs? On mine the fuse goes into the front. It is a grey unit that sits upright

I have a black stand up Halfords charger, possibility of a different vintage to yours, but this has a yellow 20A fuse installed. The spec on the back should be indicative of the fuse you would need to install if in any doubt.
