No, not MY innards, Trevors! I had the compartment in the passenger footwell open to replace some pesky fuses, and since then I can't get the rest of it to go back in. There's a big silver box (ECU?), and the fuse box. There's also a pipe that runs across, presumably to the passenger ball vent. Now, should I be firm with these parts and MAKE them go back in, or should I leave it to a professional? It's annoying, as it means I can't carry any victims in the car....

You just have to arrange them the best you can so the bolt holes line up underneath. Pain in the @rse. hehe

The S has a far more complicated arrangement.

What you have to do is arrange all the ECU, fuse box and relays on the footwell board, and then stuff it all up there and get the board in place before it all falls out.

Imagine you're trying to stuff a ton of spaghetti into a loft hatch. That's about the same level of persuasion required.

Dunno, I've never tried to stuff a wedge through a loft hatch.

On the V8S the fusebox is attached to some metal brackets which then bolt up through the top of the bulkhead under the bonnet and also lower down behind the bottom of the fusebox, on the V8S its near the coolant expansion bottle on my 92 model (later ones have the expansion tank bolted to the swirl pot)
Its still a royal pain in the ass to get it all to go back in.

It's fair to say that on my V6 the fuse box has obviously been attached to the bulkhead at some point, but the plastic brackets on the fuse box are broken, and have been since before I got it. The ECU has velcro on it but I can't see where the other bit of velcro is that it's meant to stick to.

Most of them I know, have long ago had the bits removed from their fixings for ease of access, and are just stuffed up there loose (or tight, depending how good you are at reversing a disembowelment)

Will it do any damage to leave them loose?

Mine gets stuffed behind the carpet, but I have a small loose bolt through the lower part of the dash and a tie wrap through the carpet/board that it all sits on/behind. I then hook the tie wrap over the bolt and all is secure. Because of the shape of the dash etc none of this arrangement is visible when in place so cosmetically it works too.

You can see it in this photo taken from low down on the passenger seat

If you post your question on the appropriate S forum you will get the answers to your questions about your S!

There are two ways of getting it sorted, you can do as you have and go through the lower panel but you can also remove the glove box to make sure everything fits in the space. It then makes it easier to fit the lower panel, when you can see where the ECU or the alarm module and fuse box are and make sure they are not fouling on the windscreen wiper motor.
IIRC the ECU was ty-wrapped to the WW motor.
