TVRs in the snow!

Had fun on Sunday in the snow!! Tried to get a group shot of the Cerbera's at the SYTVRCC meet on Sunday (see other thread under Cerbera forum http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... ), but due to two Cerb's having frozen locks (Kev; and Bob in his recently purchased one day into Cerb ownership, first drive in a TVR in the snow!), three having frozen driveways / minor roads on hills) there were fewer than planned, but hey we went out and had fun!

However, driving in snow and ice in gridlocked Sheffield was another experience!!

We counted them all out, and counted them all back in again - all safely home!!

We had the first snow of the season last night and even my old BMW was a handful this morning. 90 Minutes to get ten miles. The Griff's staying on the drive.

Oh you brave souls, taking your TVRs out in the snow. I recall getting caught in a freak snowstorm in April one year in my 2500M in the early 1980s and thought I had lost it on an icy bridge. Fortunately, I was able to keep it off the armco and have not ventured out in the snow in a TVR since. We currently have about 18" of snow on the ground here and I wouldn't dare trying to get my wedge out for a drive, particularly since the roads have not yet been scraped.

Just a note to add to Mike's post, all the TVRs set off when the skies were clear and blue and the roads were clear. Once at the meet it came down in sheets and all TVRs left early to avoid getting caught out, it was just the fact of how fast it came down that was the problem. So in my book they are not fools, just unfortunate to get caught out.

Well I set off to go. Went training at the EIS in Sheffield and when I got out it was snowing it down !!

So I crept home - and still needed the friendly neighbours to push me up the (very) slight hill to my house !! .It was quite entertaining sliding at 45 degrees up and down a hill

Its was no big deal the snow..I nearly reached 30mph on the M1 on the way back to Wakefield

I'm gonna be heading from Reading to Fernhurst and back to pick up the Chim tomorrow! Fingers crossed the roads will be ok after it's warmed up a bit!

Although i'm fine driving in snow, that's in my FWD daily driver so i'm hoping that if it's slippy out there then i'll be able to adapt.

It was S Andy Man and Bev was out too in the Tuscan.

I have eventually got in the Cerbera, I pressed the starter button and the thing started first time with no problem. It's been stood for around a week or so in very cold temperatures outside with no cover and they say TVRs are not reliable.

Got a burst water main just up from my house and it was still bad with ice built up so could not get it out of drive, that's sods law for you but I will have a go tomorrow if I get chance. I need my TVR fix.
