Its a small TVR world

Find myself attending a Light Rail meeting in Phoenix AZ and last night going to dinner with a group of operators, OEM's and equipment suppliers.
Sharing a table with 3 other guys I dont realy know we spent about 30 minutes on polite, friendly "where are you based" ? type getting to know each other chat. The guy oposite me then starts to explain that he's an English sports car fan and his pride and joy is a TVR 2500M he bought from new in 1976.

Ha, what a great night we had. The other two were completely bored by our inability to talk about anything else but TVR.

The Mexican food was good as well.

Isn't it great when you find out somebody owns a TVR. There's a great sense of anticipation just before you mention you own one too.

You can sit back, smile and bide your time to spill the beans, safe in the knowledge that you're about to make somebodys day.

D'ya know what I mean ?

With "so called" and myself, we had communicated on the internet for quite some time before we finally met at Out of Woodwork 2009 and we couldn't do the sit back and smile thing waiting for the right moment to spring something on the other person. Hopefully he will be able to come back to Calgary some day to view all 3 of our cars or if he is in the area of Woodwork next year I will see that he has tickets for everything again and he can see my Spousal Units car. Tony I unzipped 2 e-mails with pics but they are on the external drive of the computer that is down right now. If they were from you thank you very much for thinking of me as losing that camera/memory cards sure put a damper on things. Just glad I downloaded all the pics up to Woodwork weekend.

Unfortuinately I didnt have the self control to hold hold back.
I just blurted out load and proad, "ME TOO".
I think if we had been talking Ferrari or Lambo it would have been more "well yes, I've got one of those too", but with TVR its more YES.

Yes, shame about your camera.
I'll ceratinly be trying to make my travel plans fit around your next Woodwork.
The guy I met the other day, I've actually known for about 3 years because he works in my industry but I've never had a conversation with him until this week.
You know the situation, forced to share a table with guys you dont realy know.
Next time I'm going to ask "any of you guys drive a TVR" ? as soon as we sit down so as not waste any time talking about boring stuff like work..............Oh well, that was what I was there for but you know what I mean.
He used to be in the TVRCCNA but dropped out a few years back due to excess travel etc.
I mentioned your name to him but he didnt know you.

I had the exact same thing last week in Egypt. I was at a get to know you meal with work and we were all introducing ourselves etc then we got on to car talk and one of the guys on my table owned an S, i know what you mean about the holding back bit too!

The guy with the S was from England though so not quite as remarkable but we still bored everyone to tears!
