Brooklands TVR in Exeter
Discussion
Depends on the day. Over a period of years I found them overall to be fairly good especially as I had an older TVR, they did give it a bit more sympathy (often needed) than a lot of dealers might. I moved away to Berkshire and found that the dealer in a nearby pretty Thameside town happy to shaft me without breaking sweat. I go to Tower View now instead and cannot fault the customer service.
My advice is vote with your feet, unless of course they have the car you really want.........

Generally I think they're probably okay.
A friend of mine knows the owner and said they're pretty laid back, almost to the point of frustration! I nearly bought a car from them but later decided against it.
A young and eager salesman took me for a drive in a Tuscan, thrashing it round the roads near Exeter. It was only when we got back that his colleague told him that the engine was still being run in! Still eager to join the TVR fraternity, I turned up the next day for my test drive - I stalled the car and it wouldn't start!
After deciding that the Tuscans on offer were a little out of my price range, I was told about another Tuscan they had that was out with a customer. I was talked into paying £1000 deposit to hold the car, subject to me viewing it the following weekend.
The salesman phoned the morning I was due to leave for Exeter, to let me know that the car wouldn't be in until the middle of the following week!! He now said that it was with its previous owner still, that there'd been a death in the family and that it would be insensitive to get it at the moment - but Brooklands definitely own the car!
After talking it over with my wife, we decided not to buy it and told the salesman - then the hard sell began! He told us that he would lose his job, that he'd already paid for the tracker to be fitted, that he'd worked really hard to get the car etc etc etc. He wouldn't take no for an answer!
We phoned the owner the next day and he was very hepful. We had our deposit back within a couple of days.
My point is that it doesn't matter how good a dealer is, if they have a pushy or bad salesman then that is the impression you will get of the dealer, whether they deserve it or not.
Having spoken to my friend about it, he was surprised and said they are generally very good, if a little laid back. It might be worth contacting the Devon and Cornwall TVRCC to hear about their experiences.
I hope this helps!

For sure it's not with such a**holes that TVR will improve the reliability image.
If there was a suitable symbol i would use it for these bunch of ******'s.
I am 27 long hair, scruffy, with money to burn in the aim of having a good time with quality cars. Walked into Brooklands and had no customer service and more rudeness thsn i have ever had in a franchised mcdonalds.
Since then i got in touch with Adrian Blyth no hassles much advice an made myself a purchase!!!!
Be careful!!!!!!!

Well, I can only speak from experience and they were brilliant when I was stranded in Exeter with a broken clutch, in my Cerbera.
Sales wise it may be a different story as when I looked round I thought their second hand choice was bloody awful and all the cars needed a huge valet.
Can't fault the service guys though....

I'd agree with flasher....I have called there a couple of times on the way down to Cornwall for holidays to have a look at their stock. Almost without exception it was very disappointing in quality and presentation and manged to make 'special' cars look ever so ordinary. I recall being very uimpressed to see a yellow Tuscan just after they arrived at the dealers parked around the side of their building absolutely covered in grime and muck and clearly with the engine out....not the most helpful promotional tool for TVR I thought!!
My experience was the same as Martain's. I used to live near and when aged 17 - 23 used to pop down to MB for the usual Sat morning sniff round nice cars (never made a pain of myself, in fact used to say to the sales guys "I can't afford any of them so no need to waste your time with me, but I'll be back one day when I can).
The attitude difference between the different gharages was huge - with Brooklands being the worst by far. The Ferrari garage used to just ignore everyone who didn't have a their Couts card out, Porsche garage actually used to make me a coffee and chat happily about the range if they weren't too busy but our friends at TVR treated me with such distain it was totally embarassing.
Needless to say, when I actually bought a Griff I went down and acted like a genuine punter wanting a trade in, although childishly (but smugly) reminded them that after the way I'd been treated years earlier I would probably take my money to Cars of Exeter instead.
Garages shouldn't have to put up with kids wasting their time I agree, but they also need to remember their manners and that some ugly ducklings grow up to be swans, and some swans may want a nice car one day.

I am member of the Devon and Cornwall TVR and can honestly say that so far so good with Brooklands, yes the salesman are not the best, other than the manager Steve Goss, but the service from them has been second to none in terms of general services through to repairs.
I agree with you that they may not be the best looking bunch, but whilst up there last week, they told me they have won the dealership for Bentley and Rolls, and they are having to clean up and rebuild their shop.
As for making the salesman better, ummmm!!!!!! not sure.
