Stolen TVR's?

Anyone ever had a TVR stolen - or heard of one having been nicked? Just out of interest.

I've heard of about six or seven in the last two-three years.

Tuscan's are apparantly the most thief proof TVR to date.....even the owners can't bloody start them

Took my Chimp 500 for a punishing run all weekend, as It just laughed at my futile efforts to break the engine ( what a car ), and better than previous Porkers. I thought I would stop off at a little Hand Car wash place I know N/W of me as a treat for making me smile mile on mile. The upshot is that the chaps who run the place are Czechoslovakian and don't speak English, well not much, but when they locked the keys in the car they knew the broom through the roof trick which made me laugh. I was of the understanding that off loading a TVR is not easy in Europe as when they surface it becomes obvious that they have been lifted. Most of those taken are like Ferraris and end up in Russia which renders the UK Trackers as tosh.

If a cerby is stolen, they have one of the best alarm systems ever fitted. When the cerby is stolen, the engine blows up, the electrics fail and the car fills with smoke. Thus leaving one choking and coffing car thief (serves him rigth too!)

Chances are, if a stolen TVR has an active tracker it would be detected going through any port or estuary crossing whilst leaving the country. Many a 4x4, Merc, BMW etc have been located in containers at docks. If you have a satellite system you may well be able to see exactly where your car is but persuading the Russians to let you have it back is another problem! With a terrestrial radio system in a fibreglass body, the active signal is very strong and cars can be found quickly. From my info, TVRs tend not to be pinpointed by joyriders and in general don’t have a high theft rate.

Personally speaking the only reason I have a tracker is for my insurance. Had a Fireblade stolen last year and it was found in a lock up in a chiller van which inhibits the signals and muffles the sound of the alarm. Buy cars insure them and if somebody wants your possession ,, treat them with the same care and courtesy that they have extended to the ignition housing. Not worth taking the judicial process serious in the UK, take it from me, I work in a professional environment for my daily bread......Watch out for 500 foot Refrigerated lorrys traveling south.
