Morning All,

I've just had my renewal through via Classicline for my Tiv and it increased by 100% on last year and also on the renewal figure quoted just before Christmas.

Apparently, RSA have pulled out of the classic / future classic insurance market as from Jan 04.

Can anybody give me a name or two of any insurance companies / brokers that allow my NCB from my shopping trolley to be used on the TVR at the same time?

Thanks in advance.

Nick.

I'm with classicline - are you saying they're part of RSA so won't take renewals next year?? After taking all those pictures and getting my valuation form signed and god-knows what else I'll be well upset if they're not going to renew next year.
Edited to say I was with Heritage previously, but c/line came in cheaper in October when I renewed.

Yep my present insurance expires on 14th of this month. Had renewal through yesterday with covering letter stating the situation with RSA. Alternative cover offered is with KMG??. Classicline say they have agreed the same policy with these guys in the same way the RSA policy was almost identical to the indepenedent insurance policy previous. The only difference with the KMG policy is that breakdown cover is not included.

Not a happy chappy at the mo.

Sodding typical - so they will continue to insure you as an existing customer, but at twice the price and with no breakdown cover (not that I've needed it) - wonderful!! At least I've got nine months or so left on mine - then I s'pose it'll be back to dredging thru the Sprint ads again and spending another morning on the

Never liked ClassicLine. I objected to having to pay for breakdown cover that I already had with the AA. When I spoke with the MD and suggested it was simply profiteering, he said yes. When I pressed him on the weasel phrase 'market vale' he also admitted that it really meant 'trade value' and that it would be insufficent to replace the car on a like-for-like basis.
Just didn't like his attitude.

I'll be trying Heritage 'cos they were ok (and the cheapest) the previous year, and offered the same agreed value and breakdown stuff TVR insurance seems to be a very 'volatile' market, with premiums up and down all the time - don't know if its the number of total losses that do it, but this months 'best deal' is never the same two months running IMHO, just a case of a cuppa tea or ten, a copy of Sprint and three hours on the phone when you need a renewal...

Just got all my classic policy documents through from ClassicLine. I'm a new customer and my first TVR (V8S). The quote was good and no mention of impending problems with RSA.

Is this going to mess me up, or will they honour this policy until renewal?
Being a classic policy it doesn't take NCD into consideration. Am I still going to be able to use my full NCD which I had before stating this policy when I renew?

Bu66er!... though everything went too smoothly!

You have to use it within 2 years. After that, isn't it invalidated and you have to start again? Not 100% sure about that, I've always used my NCDs within 2 years.

I believe if you have a policy in force there is no probs. RSA are no longer taking new business. My existing policy with RSA doesnt expire for a few days yet so I assume I'm still covered...

I haven't spoken to classicline re. my renewal and present insurance yet as I'm getting cheaper quotes before going back to them.

I thought that as long as you had continuous insurance and could prove it (ie this years renewal notice with no claims listed and any following years showing no claims) then this counted as having a no claims bonus. Juts because your current policy doesn't give a discount for it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.

just spoke to classicline. There is no problem with existing RSA policies - they are just no longer taking on new business in this field.

Nick.

I mean RSA are no longer in the specialist vehicle market - not Classicline!

I agree. But IIRC the NCD "expires" after two years if it's not used. I don't know whether this varies from company to company, but it's certainly what I've been told by insurers in the past.

Agreed but I think that only counts if you don't have any insurance at all - ie you get a company car or move abroad etc.
