You're chances of seeing Ms Ickx in a TVR at Le Mans are quite slim, probably because Ben hasn't heard of her. Or maybe he doesn't realise how good she is. Ben, if you read this, Ms Ickx is a very quick driver and well known in Belgium and Europe. I have seen her at Spa a number of times. Her father was quite famous in F1, and for won some race in France a record number of times. She did very well in the Spa 24hrs last year, and has been negotiating an FIA GT drive this year. Vanina Ickx in a TVR would give MASSIVE publicity to the marque.

To ahonon, On 151299 I visited the factory in Blackpool with Ms. Ickx.In 2000 I proposed B.S. to do tests with Ms. Ickx on a tuscan or the speed 12 and let her do some races.(the costs were for me....I want to help here in her career!).....no response!

I was working at TVR, on the Cerbera Speed 12, in '99 and 2000 and I remember rumours of a Vanina Ickx visit. No-one in the GT team thought it was true! TVRs opportunity, missed.

Ahonon, Do you think there is still a opportunity that I can see V.X. in a TVR?(in the U.K. or U.E.) I contacted already Martin Short.....no response! Now I will try Mr. Richard Stanton.

Right, this might be a long shot, but the Countdown Developments team is running last year's works Cerbera Speed 12 in the British GT series this year. As I understand it they are still looking for another driver to partner Steve Hyde, and probably a little more money. Why not contact them? I can't remember the exact web site address, but I'm sure it's as simple as www.countdowndevelopments.co.uk or something. The car will be OK as the factory is testing development parts on it at the moment. Suggest taking in the odd Belcar race, too. After all, Euser's Marcos was good in that series last year, and it wasn't much quicker than us. Of course, I can't be sure if you're genuine or not: but if you are, I wish you the very best of luck!

This effort run by Bert Taylor, will turn a few heads. Bert had great success last year with Greg Caton, running on a tight budget. Watch out because this team will run away from the factory team car.

Having spent many years within the University's higher academic system maybe a little upside down thinking could be applied here. What about women only races. and why limit yourselves to the odd fortunate person who has succeeded in motorsport through accumulated wealth, playing the system, nepotistic contacts and I grant you ,,, a little talent. Are some of you still with me so far??? The position is this, If more girls raced ( under 35 years of age restrictions would apply and a ban on any form of wonder bra - shows no confidence ), more Girls would seek this as a Holy Grail Racing. Supporters clubs would generate more taxable products ( calendars ,, etc ) and more females would be present at race meets. The upshot therefore is,,,,, Women only race days would evolve and a females natural aggression as distain towards their fellow sex would create enormous carnage on and off the race tracks. Just a thought..... Edited by pitbull on Tuesday 20th February 17:44 Edited by pitbull on Tuesday 20th February 17:45

I would love to see young Ms.Ickx in a TVR, and did speak to a gentleman in Spa about the possibility of this happening, and have heard nothing since, which may explain why there has been no response from myself! Good luck in your quest! Martin Short.

Hello Shorty, I posted this a couple of days ago in servicing As most people know I am not a friend of Martin Short at Rollcentre, but I know he treats his customers better than how Brundle seem to treat their's! I haven't heard of any problems and I bet they're cheaper than the Norfolk Pixies. And oh yes he made the Speed 6 last longer than 40 minutes! James
