What's all this "Topic Closed" business about then Ted re my thread on "Hillfoot of Sheffield"?

--------------------------------------------
Re your response....

It's all down to the relationship you build with the dealer. For every dealer I've heard glowing reports about I've heard horror stories and vice versa. Talk to/email people offline, visit the dealers you are considering using and make up your own opinions.
--------------------------------------------------
I hear what you are saying Ted but surly in any business.....
The better it's run the fewer the complaints and if an "independents" such as yourself were to ask your readership......

1.
Who is the best dealer you have come across
&
2.
Who is the worst dealer you have come across

The answers would be extremely valid.

If however you are running shy for legal reasons then fair enough, just say so.
But to close a thread down tut tut!
"Blair" isum at Pistonhead towers of all places

Tony,

I would think that this is because this site operates a strict 'No naming and shaming' policy. There have been numerous thread like this in the past...
Most people have a private email set up in their profile to share this sort of information without putting this site's existence at risk.

Regards

Romain

It got closed because Pistonheads is not a democracy it's a dictatorship and Ted is Idi Ahmean (sp?) If he doesn't like something we have to button it end of chat. It's the price we have to pay for the rest of what goes on, he has the ultimate say so. I mean he closed my O/T thread on a NT4 problem last week for no apparent reason it was just lucky I'd been mailed some help in between time. These are Teds rules and he is the Law

Yes, it is for legal reasons.

If you click the link to the right of the post message box you'll see the explanation: www.pistonheads.net/gassing/rules.htm

The issue of naming and shaming seems to come up every week and that is my response to it.

To get around the legal issues you can try the following:

1) Post a new thread with your gripe / comments but NO names
2) Invite people to email you via your profile for more information

Therefore getting around these particular legal issues. Worth a try?

Cheers,

Paul

Thanks for the guidance chaps.
So if any of you are living in the South Yorks. area and would like to drop me a line regards who you trust to take care of pride and joy, please email me.(details on profile)
In turn I'd be more that happy to pass on a couple of recommendations of my own.
For example I'm wanting to get some paint work touched up so I'm looking for someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to fibre glass work. (i.e. no crazy paving specialists need apply)
Any recommendations?

Given the amount of people involved in IT that are also Pistonheaders and TVR owners, if the factory ever wanted anything done IT wise then they wouldnt have to look very far would they?

I reckon theres at least one of just about every role that you can find in an Enterprise IT deparment lurking around here!

Matt.

Superb EdT!

But just think a brand spanking new 5.0 engine in your shed ... and all the other bits too, like bumpers, ABS, traction control

You're missing one vital point Matt.... most would charge them 3 times their normal rate to compensate for the ridiculous cost of spare parts
