Hi everyone and Merry Xmas! I've noticed my wheel arch black under seal is almost back to the paint work in some patches. Has anyone out there ever re painted this? If so with what and any tips? I plan to give it a bash this week with the car up on stands. Many thanks KTG1000

It is little more than cosmetic. Not having any will not cause any serious degradation of the wheel arch inners, unless you are a regular gravel stage rally driver!!

If it worries you then use a brush on flexible underseal paint which dries with a 'rubbery' consistency.

Hi Kev,
It's quite an easy job, but a little bit mucky!!
The first thing to do is to get all the crap off the underside,ie..Dead Nova's/Gti's/scubbies/cossie's etc etc!! as this is very important for the adhesion of the new underseal. I found the best way to apply it is the spray on type(in a can)you can get this from Halfords and it's made by "3M", though this is quite thin and may require two or more coats. There is a commercial version which requires an airline, which i think is called "shutz"(spelling).
I Hope this has pointed you in the right direction, but perhaps you should leave it until the warmer weather, so that the underseal goes on better and also dries quicker, if you need any more info you can mail me via my profile.

Good luck....Dave..Happy new year

Cheers Dave. Happy New Year to you also. I'll be giving this a bash tomorrow - I use the Chim daily so would rather do now as opposed to summer - fingers crossed! I'll post my results after the event.
