Chimaera exhaust manifold to y-piece clamp

Does this seem expensive for an exhaust clamp?
Ive stripped the thread on 1 of mine and dont dare tighten the other too much and cant get a full seal.
Im thinking of using a new bolt in each clamp.
Any tips on getting these joints to seal properly?

Have the ends cut off & proper (original) bolt up flanges welded on ?

JP did a set for me a few years ago, wasn't too expensive IIRC, and they use proper jigs to do it

I've never bought one so I don't what they go for, but that price doesn't seem completely outrageous. Even simple band clamps get quite expensive in this sort of size, and V band clamps are a little more complicated. Given that they [should] last more or less forever it would seem like a reasonable investment.

To get a good seal, pull manifolds to y piece using a ratchet luggage strap.

I also use some small sash clamps to position everything and only put the v-clamps on when everything is aligned and tight.

They're expensive because they are aviation spec'; 'Avica' I think.

You could always double-nut or use a spacer to shim beyond the damaged portion of thread.

If you don't have ratchet straps then loop a length of rope around the mainifolds and use a short length of broom handle to twist-tighten; works for me.

Iv done the same thing, stripped the thread on 1 of the clamps - when i put the new ones on, can you add sealant to make sure its not blowing?

Tip i was given was to seal the join with manifold bolts loose, then tighten the bolts. Unfortunately this advice came after i'd struggled and done it

Edit: not sure you need to actually seal before or just get clamp on and started to ease the process
