Is this possible.

Now that TVR's are not all built to order.
Each dealer I believe has to commit to either 2 or 4 new cars a month stock.

Is it possible to get a discount.
If so, how much.

Has anyone got one yet?

Assume not the tamora (too new/in demand)
but, cerbera, tuscan, tuscan S anyone?

From the people that I have spoken to, the dealers do have a fairly large margin to play with (though some might disagree). Some of it has to be set aside for covering any problems with the cars (sensible) but there are occassionally discounts to be had.

However, you are more likely to get better treatment at the hands of a dealer over time. Buy a couple of cars and low and behold they are keen to keep you as a customer - nice discounts and offers into the bargin. As Ted has said many a time - its all in the relationship that you can strike up with the salesman / dealer. Get a good one and they want you for life....

But dont expect Ford levels of discount. Interestingly went to the jamjar.com site to see if they had any cheap TVRs for sale. They had a price promise of beating the price of any main dealer list price on a new car. Checked out a Cebera and it was a whole £5 cheaper than list! To be honest some negotiation with a dealer will get you several hundred at least!!! But then they changed the web application. Shame. Funny though.

Cheers,

Paul

When I bought at the end of last year the dealer was completely unwilling to negotiate saying the price you see is the price you pay, but I did manage to get a very good package including free servicing and free extended warranty so these may be good starting points when negotiating.

Surely if you go to Dealer A and choose a car, then ask for a discount ... he says no. We know that's bo11ox so go to another dealer (maybe their arch rival and say you've been to Dealer A for a test drive etc. and have made a choice and that you are interested in buying. What can they do to perusade you to buy from them? I'm not saying get into a slagging match between dealers (I'm sure some have gentleman's agreements anyway) but if you go on the last day of the month and pick the crappest salesman he may need to make his quota.

I wish I was in a position to buy a new TVR - I think it'd have to be a Tamora judging by all the reports (I'm not driving one on purpose!).

TVR dealers do have a % mark up on the cars and if they cant shift them then they are mad not to eat into it. If I was after a brand new TVR I would want at least 10% off.

The margins have been reduced of late and dealers aren't having the best time of it currently so I wouldn't expect them to be too forthcoming. That said, if the car is sitting on the forcourt, any astute businessman will take a small hit in order to secure and immediate sale.

As for playing one dealer off against another I believe there is a gentleman's agreement between them to respect each other's territories. A few people have stories of trying to buy from a dealer not local to themselves and the dealer referring them back to their local dealer.
