A decent digicam to capture the key moments of a hooning trip on a scale the likes of which is almost impossible in England these days?

Couple of adjustable spanners and a couple of screwdrivers (just in case).

My theory is that if you've got them you'll never need to use them!!

spares (light bulbs, fuses, gaffer tape, fan belt, adjustable spanner, cable ties etc)
fire extinguisher
2 warning triangles
"get you home" tyre inflator, rather than the spare tyre!
sunglasses
sunblock
torque wrench for wheel nuts (& Locking wheel nut!)
spare fuel can - a must if you're on a 200 mile limit and can't always find a petrol station!
maps / TomTom (with the fixed camera points turned off)
video camera and mounting point for the car
consider pre-pay for the peyage in France and also motorway tax if in Switzerland
spare brake pads

Edited to include:
car handbook (essential if you have to get at those fuses!)
spare car keys and spare battery for the fob
GB sticker / number plates
Vehichle Reg document (V5) plus MOT certificate
Both parts of your driving licence
European Health Insurance Card (this replaced the E111 a few years ago)
Personal travel insurance
Cash - enough to cover the on-the-spot fines should you get pulled over to making too rapid progess...
chargers for all your electrical devices and a euro plug adapter!
consider taking a pump (manual or electric) for keeping the tyre pressure correct

Couple of bottles of octane booster in case you have to use 95 octane.
Tom Tom map loaded with petrol stations selling 98 octane (shell has downloadable point of interest file).

As a matter of interest why do you have to have camera location deleted? A GPS system isn't any form of detector so presumably if it doesn't have an additional laser detector it must be legal.

Cable ties & gaffer tape, got to be the fix it for just about everything.

Don't forget the hi-vis vest, it's now law in France with an on the spot fine if you don't have one, it must also be kept in the car NOT in the boot, the idea being you can put it on before exiting the car.

Headlight beam deflectors. Don't fit them, just keep to show "sorry I forgot"

Les Flics favourite trick at the moment is to pull English drivers for the hi-vis then see what else you can find, unless they can actually see the Hi-Vis while you are driving.

Most drivers now hang them over the back of the seat. Unless your seat is right back this can take off with the roof down. My passenger nearly lost one.

So, one armhole over the headrest and wind until tight.
