Not wishing to devalue the usefulness of the insurance WIKI but I do think people need to see it as only a general guide. The broker focus ignores the fact that brokers can obtain quotations and provide cover from a variety of underwriters. Without comparing actual insurance company policies some of the information is necessarily general, even with the broker specific TVR policies. For example my Grif is currently insured with Chaucer (the underwriters) via Jelf (the brokers). I'm aware that Jelf could have arranged cover for me with more than one underwriter, although on different terms - some favourable, others less so. Jelf can offer three levels of cover via Chaucer. Some of the differentiators being whether or not limited mileage (5K, 10K) is specified, track day inclusion, garaging etc.

Whilst on the subject, I have often been bemused by the, 'I'm 25 and my insurance costs £X, so if you're 45 and paying £Y, then you are being ripped off' type threads. The posts generally fail to take account of two significant factors that determine final cost - postcode and amount of excess accepted. These simple person-to-person comparisons can be very unreliable in the absence of all the facts of each case - classic apples and pears scenario.
