where to take a TVR

hi, all! i am having some problems with my Tamora. the headlights (dipped beams) have stopped working after giving it a wash!

i am in the chelmsford(essex)area and would appreciate any recommendations of a good mechanic that knows TVRs but dont take the p@ss with prices ?

and i dont want a rip off merchant?

any feed back will be gratefully received!

have you done the obvious and checked fuses and relays to save your money?

i would not think its much of a problem to sort mate

Probably two choices, Leven in Basildon or Castle in Stansted. I have used both and would use both again.

In true TVR style you may find they start working again in a day or two !

yes, i did check fuses and when the fault was happening, i pulled the fuse out but the lights stayed on!!!!! im not too familiar with relays but pulled them out and put in again incase there was a bad contact but still no joy.

but yes, i have just tried the lights and in true TVR style they are working. is it that they are magical self healing cars??????

actually, they aint working! it was just the full beams switched on

Chances are that the Dipped beam relay or circuitry to it is faulty. You could try swapping with the main beam relay if you can identify them. Should be in the handbook

I am assuming that the Tamora has a dipped and a main beam relay. The older TVRs (v8s) do

ok trev, good idea. i will give it a try!
my neighbour is an autoelctrician and i have just pursuaded him to have a butchers! hopefully it will be sorted soon!
i noticed aswell that at some point i had my windscreen replaced and the seal at the bottom of it was coming away so i think water has managed to seap in and get behind the dash!
i have peeled the bottom seal off completely ,give it a good clean with cloth and windowcleaner (no more water thankyou)peeled old crappy silicone out and squirted plenty of clear silicone back in and stuck window seal back on top! if that was where water came in, hopefully no more!

Another tip would be to seal the bolts on your wiper linkage under the bonnet as it leaks in water right onto the fuse box wich probably has caused your fault. Hope this helps.

Another vote for Leven here. My Chim has been there a couple of times and they've never been anything less than helpful and done excellent work.
