Type approval....

Dont know if anyone else spotted this in Autocar this week, but it seems that the EU and UK law makers have backed down on the type approval issue. They wanted to force the lower volume limit of the limited type approval that companies such as TVR build cars to - so that they would have to make all of their cars to these strict guidelines.
Well, they have dropped it for the moment and as a result companies such as TVR (and pretty much all of the other small volume sports car manufacturers) can carry on as usual. Hence less than 2000 run of a particular model and not forced to introduce stuff like airbags etc....

Was this the issue that was potentially going to force Morgan out of business? Something to do with the gap between the engine and the bonnet which has to be large enough to allow for a crumple zone for pedestrians to fall onto when they wander into the road?
