what axle stands?
Discussion
I always put off doing any work on my cars due to no equipment. But with the S i want to do more myself, and i really need to change my rear springs now or poss just adjust the shocks. But either way I will need some axle stands. Do I just go for the cheapest one's I can find? Or pay extra for quality? I have found some fixed base one's with a pin(not a ratchet type) for 14pounds..
Bought 3 sets recently due to leaving them in various houses. Rachet ones a bit easier to adjust while flailing around underneath a half-jacked-up car. Though not much in it. Also note shape of the support and pick one that suits the chassis beam size. Some have rubber bits in the top- usefull for not mashing up your powdercoat/paint so much.
Otherwise all much of a muchness I'd think. Spent 15-25 on mine. All do the job.
Just make sure you'll get them under the car where you need them on their lowest setting and that they go up high enough.
Few blocks of wood and a jack and you are away
[ETA: Unless you work in health and safety then don't do this!]
