I don't know if this has been discussed before.. but.
I was driving along the Chester Road in Sale today and hit a sunken grid, the car dropped hard and my hand hit the windscreen wiper stalk. (Felt a bit stupid as it wasn't raining)
My question being, if it had damaged my car could I sue them?

simpo two...do you reckon I could sue WSCC for a new sump plug and 5L of Mobil 1 after today's fiasco since the country lanes around here are in an awful state?!?! 
Let's hope that's all it is though, but for now Trev's been sent to coventry (well the garage actually, tucked up safe and sound)

Sounds like 19560 has the place to try, is TMBC * * Borough Councils? Anyway, best take some photos of the spot, get some evidence from an expert witness and send it in if that's what you need to do... you've got nothing to lose after all. Might be worth looking at www.abd.org.uk too. Good luck CC
The wagon wheel grooves in the inside lanes of the north and south bound stretches of the M6 between the thelwall bridge and haydock are another case in point.
They are boarding on dangerous.
Surely they can use some speed camera revenue to make the necessary repairs with decent materials before someone has a major 'off' as result of them

You need to report that to the Highways Agency in Picadilly, Manchester; ask for Roger Fairclough if you get stuck.

Ahhh, you're all getting soft. Drive over here (Warsaw) for a few days and you'll never complain about British roads again.

And it is the same here in Hungary. The grooves caused by busses can be as much as 10-12 cm with almost vertical ridges in places.

Ah. I don't think CC lives in Sale, but we get the drift!
Nope, I reside in deepest rural Sussex where you can't move for tractors...everywhere...and at ALL times of the day especially during the rush-hour!
And do they ever pull over when convenient to do so...well what do you think?
