TVR Wet Grip Day - Rockingham 15/08/09

Following on from this thread: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... we are organising a wet grip training session (skid pan) at Rockingham race track with the opportunity to include a half day session on the race track.

Cost of wet grip session is £115. Places are provisionally filled as per list below, but if interested add your name to reserve list in case anyone drops out. Open to any TVR (or other vehicles if any spare places).

The full track day is organised by Book-a-Track @ £235 and they have offered us a morning or afternnon session on track for £140. This is seperate from the wet grip facility we are booking.

I have provisionally split the AM/PM sessions, but these can be finalised over next few weeks. Feel free to add details of car type or previous experience, but don't amend sessions until confirming a swap, as there can only be 10 cars morning and afternoon.

Priority for morning wet grip session is for those wishing to do a track session as well. If you have expressed interest in both but no longer wish to go on track then please advise asap so sessions can be re-organised. Likewise if you can no longer attend for the wet grip session.

All wet grip sessions now filled - hopefully everyone doing the track session as well has now booked this directly with BaT ???
If for any reason you no longer wish to do the track session (unlikely I know) please advise asap in case session can be swapped with someone who does ....

(I've not booked my track session yet in case someone has extremely good reason why they need the morning wet grip session, but will be booking by the end of this week)

I'm interested in both wet and track but I guess theres a db limit in force and as I have sleeved pipes the noise would be too high. Is the db limit 105 or something else ? this may be the excuse I have been looking for to buy those track day inserts...

Would love to do the track as well as the wet session.

Is there any chance the noise tester is deaf?

103dB, measured at 0.5m and 45 degrees from exhaust, at 4k rpm (ie rev gently to 3.5k rpm)
Standard systems should pass fine. I have a spare set of standard cans with half sleeves which should pass on a non de-cat Tuscan, but will try & remove the sleeves in case someone needs to borrow them.
Straight through de-cat systems may need to beg or borrow some track day silencers - there must be a few people on here who have them ...

I will keep amending the table in the first post as confirmation / payments come in. So far received from Mike, Tavan (Nigel) transferred but not showing yet and cheque in post from Zippee (Tony).

Priority for morning wet grip will go to those doing a track session as well, in order of payment (ie, first 10 places). That way anyone just doing the wet grip session can watch a bit of racing or take pics of the others sliding round in the morning.

I sent a PM to everyone on the list and don't want to post my address & bank details on here so please PM me if you did not get the email.
I need to collect £115 from everyone doing the wet grip session, so I can pay the full amount (£2300) to Rockingham by 10th July.

Track sessions need to be arranged directly with Book-a-Track (full details are 2 posts down).

It just makes things easier to do it this way. The wet facility has to be booked as a group, but the track sesson is an optional extra for those who want it (with hopefully some additional skills gained from the morning if they find themselves skidding out on a corner) !

The techniques are practised in the wet, with slow speeds, minimal risk and negligible tyre wear, but exactly the same as at high speed in dry conditions.

Morning Alan, The Rockingham link you posted is broken. Have you got a contact number to enable us to book the track session - or do we wait until you have the email booking form? Had a look at their web site and couldn't find telephone contact details. Hmmn so annoying when companies don't advertise their numbers.

Track Day Booking Instructions

For those wishing to do a session on track as well as the wet grip, please follow the instructions below as (as received by email today):

"Sincere apologies for the delay. Unfortunately, we do not send out booking forms but can take bookings via the website.

To book for this event members will need to register with us at www.bookatrack.com, creating a username and password. Once they have registered with the website click on the track days heading at the top of the page and then choose the calendar and bookings option. This will take you to our events calendar. Scroll down the page and choose the Rockingham event and click on the book option and another menu will appear. From this menu click book next to the 'drive your own car option' and a booking page will appear. On this page you can choose any extras such as instruction and helmet hire. To get the half day discount you need to select from the menu under 'half day option' and choose either the morning or afternoon, which will deduct £95 from the total. Then click the submit button and go to the shopping basket page - payment can be made from here.

If anybody has any questions they can contact me by email or the telephone number below.

Payment for the wet grip session still needs to be sent to me so I can pay Rockingham by 10th July.

So far only a few payments received and another 3 cheques coming in post, so if you know anyone on the list please give them a nudge in case they didn't get the email ....

Sorry for the stoopid question - but does anyone know if a Cerb AJP 4.2 with Cats (new) but with a sports back box will pass the noise limit?

Alan, FYI I have booked my pm track session. So I think I'm all set for the day. I'm looking to book accomm for the Friday nite somewhere in the vicinity - maybe the Holiday Inn, Corby - where some of us stayed for the Britcar event recently. Anyone else planning to stay over and avoid a middle of the night drive to the circuit?

Quite probably. One person has already sold their TVR and I suspect there will be a couple who now can't make it. We need to fill all 20 places so I've added your name to the reserves list. If any of the original 'A list' haven't confirmed by 6th July we will start adding reserves.

Excellent. I stayed at the nearby Travel Plaza (Desborough) last time as it was only £50 for 2 people including evening meal. Don't think they are doing that offer now so open to suggestions.....
