Farewell Peter

I have just noticed the time... 10.30am, meaning Peter Wheeler will be making his final car journey in the next half hour or so.
I didn't intend starting another tribute thread - there are already threads running both on PH and the TVRCC site.
I simply thought that others, like me, would like to pause for a moment to remember Peter and the impact he had on us all as his funeral starts - and of course to think of his family and close friends.
I had a season and a half of racing against Peter in his Tuscan Challenge, and I remember how special and honoured I felt to be racing a car alongside the man responsible for creating them. What fabulous days those were - and how we all miss them.
So farewell Peter - it was a blast. And to Peter's family - what a legacy he left - I'm sure you're immensely proud of him.
Somehow Peter's TVR slogan seems completely appropriate for the man himself - "Peter Wheeler - the spirit of driving"

I only met the man once (at Knockhill) and have never owned a Wheeler-era TVR but he seemed a really nice chap and his achievments will live on (albeit often in laybys and on recovery trucks.)

RIP Peter. Met him briefly last year and I'd not even heard until the site was closed this morning. Quite a nice gesture I think.
Not wishing to be morbid, but can I enquire what happened? I wasn't aware he was in ill health.
It's one hell of a legacy to leave. He was the man who arguably crafted the TVR we know (knew?) today more than any other person. Not even Martin Lilley took the company quite as far I wouldn't say. A true legend.

I believe Peter Wheeler was quotes as saying that was his favorite...I've posted this before, but just after Peter sold TVR, I was chatting to him in the assembly area at Thruxton just prior to a race. I asked him what his favourite car was from his era at TVR and he replied it was the one he was sitting in - his Tuscan Challenge car. He explained that its chassis had formed the basis of all subsequent TVRs.
