Which TVR is quickest on track?
Discussion
Sorry to disagree Ted but the T350 with the 400 BHP pack is for sure. Well at Oulton Park that is as the Christopher Neil yellow Tuscan and Noble will testify! It is quicker than my Tuscan Red Rose which by the way is the same engine that they put in the Tuscan S, and it handles far better. I know someone might dispute this but how many people have actually raced one on a track? Only a Radical has passed me on 3 track days which included the usual Subarus Evos and several Porsches and Ferraris etc.
Obviously driver skill/bottle comes into play on the bends and there are cars that corner better but in a straight line the 400BHP T350 takes some beating!

As long as the power stays down, wouldn't Christoff's 550r be the quickest?
Or does that count as modifying? Are we just talking standard road cars here?
How about an ex Tuscan racer? Road Legal but built for the track?
Someone will have to lend me one of each model for the next 2 years so that I can conclusivly find out. (oh and the cash for maintenance, petrol etc etc!)

and that particular Tuscan lives with me now!
Sorry about the off-topic post but I thought I'd let you know that I got the wind noise sorted - thanks for your help. I had planned to email you earlier this week but your email address is on a different PC.
Thanks again!
JoThanks for the replies.
Looks like all the current crop are pretty handy on track then?
Do TVR's suffer much in the wet? I remember the T350 matching an Evo7 FQ300's dry time in the wet which I was well impressed with!
I will be buying a Cerbera 4.2 in early '04 and will want to do track days
.

The TVR which is quickest on track is the best driven/ modded one.
If its down to cars alone with a racing driver at the wheel im sure it would be close between:
T440R/T400R/T550R (if any are at a trackable stage yet)
T400C (dont know of any cars in particular)
Julian Rowntrees Cerb 4.5Red Rose (428bhp proven)
Christofs old Cerb 4.5Red Rose (+ aero pack)
Dave Haslams Cerb (well set up / forsale atm incidentally - no connection)
any of the TVR Racers
Some of the sprinting TVRs
With an average driver in it - T350C/Tamora probably
The TVR with the "friendliest" handling.
Have fun in your future Cerbera, there have been alot of pretty frighteningly quick 4.2s out there...
btw they are fine in the wet, just dont expect Skyline levels of traction - its RWD and powerful

The fastest TVR's I have seen round a circuit (Zolder)
To be fair the V8S is far from standard, but it is still a bit down on power compared to most of the TVR powered cars. I think the biggest factor at Zolder is that I've had tons of practice driving this car on the limit, and I've got limited imagination. Both very important when you're exploring the performance envelope!
